Agosto relocates to Colorado The World Arena Ice Hall in Colorado
Springs, Colorado, announced in April that 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Ben Agosto is joining its coaching staff in June. “I am excited to be joining the World Are-
na family, and to become part of a rink with such a long and glorious tradition in fi gure skating,” Agosto said. Agosto teamed with Tanith Belbin to cap-
ture fi ve consecutive U.S. ice dance titles from 2004 to 2008. Together they won the silver medal at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games — the highest U.S. Olympic ice dance placement ever recorded at that time and the fi rst Amer- ican medal in the discipline since 1976. They won four medals at the World Championships, placed fourth at the 2010 Olympic Games and were inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2016. Since announcing their retirement in 2010, Agosto has worked as a coach in both Lac-
ey, Washington, and Scottsdale, Arizona, in addition to lending his hand as a choreographer in productions such as Disney On Ice’s “Dare to Dream” show.

World Team academic scholarship program established
U.S. Figure Skating announced in April that it will of-
fer an academic scholarship award to eligible Olympic and World Team (senior level) members. Established by The Pioneer Fund, a private family foun-
dation created by the late Helen M. McLoraine, the scholarship is intended to defray costs for student athletes pursing an undergraduate degree at an accredited secondary institu- tion.
Awards will be available for qualifi ed Olympic and World Team members from 2010 to
the present. U.S. Figure Skating will award the inaugural grants for the 2016–17 academ- ic year to current and former athletes who demonstrate fi nancial need, past and present (nonfi nancial) contributions to U.S. Figure Skating and/or involvement with other commu- nity organizations. Managed by U.S. Figure Skating, World Team academic scholarship awardees will be
determined by a three-person selection committee assigned by The Pioneer Fund and U.S. Figure Skating. Applications will be accepted annually between March and June. For more information, visit usfi
