Rachael Flatt, the 2010 U.S. champion and a 2010 Olympian, was inducted into the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 25 at the Broadmoor World Arena. Flatt grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and gradu- ated with honors from Cheyenne Mountain High School. She trained locally under the team led by Tom Zakrajsek, Becky Cal- vin and Erik Schulz. After high school, she attended Stanford University, where she graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in psychology. While at Stanford, she received the Order of Omega Outstanding Athleticism Award and the school’s award of excellence. Flatt was supported at the Hall of Fame ceremony by her parents, Jody and Jim; her boyfriend, Eric Iwashita, also a Stanford 2015 grad- uate; many of her coaches and fellow skaters; and Broadmoor SC supporters.
