ELEVATED ELATION: Kerri Walsh Jennings has three gold medals in beach volleyball, but she never jumped higher than when celebrating the bronze medal she won with April Ross. (Photo: FIVB)

“I have a new appreciation for that match. In all of sports, the bronze-medal match has to be one of the gnarliest. The bronze-medal match – at the time – felt like the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my athletic career by far.” — Kerri Walsh Jennings on the bronze-medal match
