ELITE COMPETITORS FROM SIX AGE divisions took to the sand of Hermosa Beach, Cali- fornia, in mid-July for the annual USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championships. Players ranging in age from Under 13 to Under 23 competed near the Hermosa Beach pier. From the High Performance pipeline, A1 and A2 National Team players were awarded automatic entry into the competition. “This year’s High Performance Championships


were held in the mecca of beach volleyball, at Her- mosa Beach,” USAV Beach High Performance Man- ager Megan Burgdorf said. “We had over 220 of the country’s top talent competing, with top pairs from Brazil, Canada and Puerto Rico, which significantly enhanced the boys’ side of competition.”


More than 20 of USA Volleyball’s regions


featured athletes this year, providing an opportunity to compete in an international style event. This was also the inaugural year for the U13 Boys age group.
