Christopher Fee (MA ’91) pub- lished American Myths, Legends, and Tall Tales: An Encyclopedia of Ameri- can Folklore. The work presents a mix of entries drawn from ethnic American traditions and explains their origins and evolutions.


Daniel M. Kotin (JD ’91) became the 140th president of the Chicago Bar Association.


Alan J. Spellberg (JD ’92) was awarded the Roz Kaplan Govern- ment Service Award by the Illinois State Bar Association at their 140th annual meeting in June.


Nicholas C. Cavalaris (JD ’93) joined as a partner at Roetzel's Pub- lic Law Practice in Columbus, Ohio, focusing on municipal law with an emphasis on zoning, land use, and real estate development.


Lisa A. Colpoys (JD ’94) received the Joseph R. Bartlak Memorial Legal Services Award at the Illinois State Bar Association's 140th annual meeting in June.


Vidas Barzdukas (BA ’96) pub- lished his play, Captain Blood, an updated dramatic adaptation of Rafael Sabatini's classic novel first published in 1922.


Tara Betts (BA ’97) published her second work, Break the Habit, a personal, lyrical collection that speaks to the ways one experiences loss and the choices one makes in the aftermath.


Tony Zolla (BBA ’97) has been named chief product officer at Cars.com. Previously, he was senior vice president of customer experi- ence at Redbox.


Ami Hannam (BS ’99) and Bradley D. Hannam announced the birth of their daughter, Olivia Grace, on August 31. She weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long.


Julie Massey (MDIV ’99) co-au- thored Project Holiness: Marriage as a Workshop for Everyday Saints with Bridget Ravizza. The book received a second-place award from the

Dan Raynor (MBA ’00) joined As- sociated Bank as senior relationship manager in the Insurance Industry Banking Group. He is responsible for developing, maintaining, and grow- ing broad-based relationships with insurance industry clients.


Nora A. Doherty (BA ’01, JD ’05) was elected to the Illinois State Bar Association Board of Governors.


Ruth Hansen (MJ ’01) was ap- pointed a lecturer at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s College of Business and Economics, where she will be helping to establish a nonprofit management program. Hansen is also a doctoral candidate at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.


Aaron Tobler (BA ’01) was named one of 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year by the U.S. Air Force. The award


recognizes outstanding enlisted per- sonnel for superior leadership, job performance, community involve- ment, and personal achievement.


Philip Dawkins (BA ’02) performed his one-man play, The Happiest Place on Earth, which ran from September 17 to October 23 at the Greenhouse Theater Center in Chicago. The show is a co-production with Sideshow Theatre Company.


Austin Dempsey (MBA ’02), vice president of BEI Properties, joined the Board of Trustees of Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois.


Lauren Mucha (BA ’02, JFRC Summer ’02) and her husband, Lawrence Vonckx, welcomed their second child, Zachary James, on July 12, 2015.


Meredith Pike (JD ’03) was promoted to principal at Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., where she focuses on employment law and construction litigation. Pike has been named an Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine from 2012 to 2016 and an Emerging Lawyer in 2015 and 2016.


Erica Mynarich (BA ’04) received the Lon O. Hocker Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation. The award is given to three up-and-coming trial lawyers in Missouri who have shown excellence in the courtroom.


Gretchen Harris Sperry (JD ’05) was elected as partner of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP. She focuses her practice on constitutional law, white collar criminal defense and internal investigations, and appellate law.


Tina Rao (JD ’07) received a new in-house position as senior counsel, exchange solutions, with Willis Tow- ers Watson working on their private health care exchange platforms.


Jose Alonso (JD ’07) received the Je- rold S. Solovy Equal Justice Award for his work with migrant farm workers.


Phillip A. Brigham (JFRC Summer ’07, JD ’09, LLM ’10) received the Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service from the U.S. District Court at the Excellence in Pro Bono and Pub- lic Interest Service Award Ceremony.
