Cezar M. Froelich (BS ’67, JD ’70) is one of 18 attorneys at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP to be named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers 2017. He was included for his work with gam- ing law, though his practice involves a wide variety of corporate finance/ securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He is a partner in the firm’s business and finance practice group and serves as chairman of Taft’s Chicago office.


Fred Kuch (BA ’69) earned an MEd in higher education from the Univer- sity of Nevada and was a candidate for the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents.


1970s


Marvin Bates (BS ’72) was awarded a DBA (Doctor of Business Adminis- tration) in marketing from Anderson University. He was also recognized as Outstanding Faculty Member at Lewis University, where he is an assistant professor of marketing.


William Rich (BS ’73) published his second novel, Daniel and Job, Book II: The Nograv, a sequel to Daniel and Job. He is currently working on a third book in the series.


Paul Lombardo, PhD, JD (MA ’75) was chosen as a regents professor, the highest academic appointment in the University System of Georgia. He holds the Bobby Lee Cook Chair in the College of Law at Georgia State University.


Sandra Cisneros (BA ’76), a best- selling author known for her novel The House on Mango Street, was among this year’s recipients of the National Medal for Arts and Humani- ties. She received her medal from President Barack Obama at a White House event in September.


Gregory P. Belback (BS ’77, MSIR ’79) joined Franciscan Ministries as their chief talent officer.

Barb Rosenstock (BS ’84) won a 2015 Caldecott Honor for her picture book The Noisy Paint Box.


Thomas R. Hill (JD ’85) is a partner in the new litigation firm of Smith Blake Hill LLC. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is listed in Best Lawyers in America with the 2015 distinction of being named Lawyer of the Year in Chicago for professional malpractice law.


Robert M. Tenuta, PhD (BA ’85) received his doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service in Higher Education from Car- dinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.


Donald Campbell (BA ’86) was among 15 lawyers named to the 2016 Michigan Super Lawyer List, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and personal achievement.


Sandy Spiegel (MSW ’87), a retired social worker with more than 30 years of experience in the field, has devel- oped a program called Mindful Walks for people who have gone through cancer treatment or have lost loved ones to cancer.


Karen Sheridan (BA ’78) recently played the role of Betty in the Michigan premiere of Chapatti by Christian O'Reilly at the Williamston Theatre. Sheridan is a professor of theatre at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.


1980s


The Hon. Sharon M. Sullivan (JD ’80) received an award from the North Suburban Bar Association for her years of service in the Skokie courthouse. She also was formally named the presiding judge in the County Division.


Michael W. Duffy (JD ’81) joined Merlin Law Group's trial team as a high-profile litigator. Duffy has


obtained several multi million- dollar verdicts for wronged insureds and represented dozens of policyholders in windstorm, hail, hurricane, fire, water, and vandalism losses. He was also one of the first attorneys to develop property and injury mold litigation.


James Rhode (BA ’82) was named IHSA Cross Country Official of the Year 2015-16 by the Illinois High School Association.


Christine O. McTigue (JD ’84) was elected as a director of the DuPage Bar Foundation and received a 2015- 16 Board of Directors Award from the DuPage County Bar Association for distinguished service as editor of the DCBA Brief.


Andrew Kloak (BA ’88) finished his first book, Working the Glass: A Novel, which is set in both 1993 Chicago and in the Czech Republic. Kloak lives in San Jose, California, where he works in credentialing with Verity Medical Foundation.


Jim Macchitelli (BS ’88) was ap- pointed the new vice president of marketing for Granite City Food & Brewery, a brewery-restaurant with 35 locations throughout the Midwest.


1990s


Ted A. Donner (JD ’90) was sworn in as DuPage County Bar Association president on June 10 and will serve in the role for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
