THROUGH THE LOYOLA LENS

“Arrupe has helped me understand that with college, it’s what you make of it. Are you going to be a person who’s afraid of rejection or failure, or are you going to be a person who is excelling?”

—TRENTON STILLWELL, ARRUPE COLLEGE SOPHOMORE

RETREAT AND ECOLOGY CAMPUS Give your team a real challenge

Sometimes the best way to spark creativity or strengthen your cor- porate team is to get away from the office, and Loyola’s Retreat and Ecology Campus may be the perfect location for your next team outing. The 98-acre property in Woodstock, Illinois, is home to the largest challenge course of its kind in the state, including a climbing tower, two high rope

courses, a zip line, and 18 low ropes elements—all available as part of flexible rental packages. Customized programs for stu- dents, youth groups, or businesses are designed to foster commu- nication, goal setting, problem solving, and leadership skills. But that’s not all. The cam-

pus offers outdoor education programs ranging from farming

and forest ecology to archery and birding. And if your group is more suited to spending time in the kitchen than exploring the great outdoors, Loyola has an array of culinary teambuilding activities in its state-of-the-art Duchossois Food Systems Lab and Kitchen.

LEGAL EASE: With its first class of 43 students, Loyola’s Weekend JD program is off to a solid start. The program, which offers a convenient, flexible schedule for students, is already ranked 14th among part-time law programs nationwide by U.S. News & World Report, the highest ranking of any school in the Midwest.

THE BEST DEFENSE: National security issues took center stage when senior mili- tary officers visited Loyola for a panel discus- sion with students in February. The event was part of the Eisenhower Series College Program, which promotes dialogue between the military and society on a wide range of national security and public policy matters.
