his month, I’d like to take a moment to re⇓ ect on the importance of safety. May is Electrical Safety Month, and Northeast Oklahoma Electric


CooperaƟ ve will be sharing safety Ɵ ps and reminders throughout the month to help raise awareness about the dangers of electricity on our website (www.neelectric.com) and on Facebook (www.facebook.com/neokrec). We all depend on electricity to power our lives, but accidents can happen when electricity is improperly used.


Our responsibility to you Northeast Oklahoma Electric’s concern for safety extends beyond our employees. We care deeply about the safety of our members, and this month, we encourage you to plug into safety. According to the Electrical Safety FoundaƟ on InternaƟ onal, thousands of people in the U.S. are criƟ cally injured and electrocuted as a result of electrical ⇒ res, accidents and electrocuƟ on in their own homes. *955220*


To promote safety educaƟ on in our local communiƟ es, we provide safety demonstraƟ ons in schools, to civic organizaƟ ons, and at community events. We frequently provide electrical safety content in NE ConnecƟ on and we encourage the public to contact us if they see a downed power line or any other type of dangerous electrical situaƟ on. We strive to provide our communiƟ es with safe, reliable and aī ordable electricity and to serve as your trusted energy advisor, now and well into the future.


Our responsibility to employees It is no accident that safety is a top priority at Northeast Oklahoma Electric. We are commiƩ ed to a culture of safety that is integral to our daily operaƟ ons. In fact, Northeast is part of the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) that follows speci⇒ c guidelines and protocols for electrical safety that are considered leading pracƟ ces. Our lineworkers are required to wear personal protecƟ ve equipment at all Ɵ mes when on the job. This includes special ⇒ re-resistant clothing that will self-exƟ nguish, limiƟ ng potenƟ al injuries from burns and sparks. Insulated and rubber gloves are worn in tandem to protect from electrical shock. Our safety commiƩ ee regularly discusses important safety issues pertaining to work within the building as well as out in the ⇒ eld.

2. When contacting the cooperative to report an outage, use the name as it appears on your bill, and have both your pole number and account


number ready.
