Cordless Straight Grinder for Metal Castings

Slurry Mix for Continuous Mixing

Suhner Abrasive Expert AG, Lupfi g, Switzerland, has expanded its product range with the ASC 9, a universal cord- less straight grinder for work with non- woven brushes and fl ap wheels. Typical work includes the removal of tarnishing and blending on matte surfaces. T e reduction gears fi tted in the machine deliver a high torque and consistent working speed, providing a uniform grinding pattern. T e machine is fi tted with a chuck system that provides quiet running with minimal vibration. Users can choose between the quarter-inch or 6 mm chuck. T e cordless ASC 9 oper- ates at a speed of 9,000 rpm and weighs

4.4 lbs., including the battery pack. Visit www.suhner-abrasive-expert.com for more information.

Random & Randolph, Maumee, Ohio, has introduced SustpendaSlurry, a ready-to-use ceramic shell slurry. Developed to minimize costs associated with con- tinuous mixing and to simplify the mixing process, SustpendaSlurry material’s pre-mixed, chemically suspended ceramic shell slurry eliminates the need to weigh and mix binder and refractory components. T e slurry material reduces initial make-up time, equip- ment maintenance associated with continuous mixing and the risk of slurry loss due to electrical failure or damaged tanks. SustpendaSlurry is available in 60-lb.

and 400-lb. re-sealable containers. Visit www.ransom-randolph.com for more information.

New Version of Simulation Software for Metalcasters

Flow Science Inc., Sante Fe, N.M., announced the release of a new version of FLOW-3D Cast, its software specially designed for metalcasters. FLOW-3D Cast v4.1 off ers powerful advances in modeling capabilities, accuracy and performance. Active Simulation Control, one of the software’s new features, gives users the abil- ity to control time-dependent events. For example, the transition to the fast shot stage during high pressure diecasting can be synchronized with metal arriving at the in-gates. Diecasting users will also benefi t from the addition of a squeeze pin model, a faster and more accurate thermal die cycling model, and the ability to use

a P-Q2 diagram to realistically control the motion of the shot sleeve plunger. Visit www.fl ow3d.com for more information.
