AFS Reaches Gold Level Status
With America Makes AFS continues its membership with America Makes,
the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute established in 2012 as the fl agship institute of the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation. AFS has achieved Gold Level member status through in-kind cost sharing from organizing workshops, meetings and a course as part of the America Makes and Youngstown Business Incuba- tor (YBI)-lead “Accelerated AM Integration into the U.S. Foundry Industry” additive manufacturing project. T is new level of membership gives AFS more involve- ment in decision-making, including a governance board seat, as well as use of America Makes facilities for research & development and membership discounts for AFS members. AFS has assisted the additive manufacturing project this
year through various knowledge transfer events, including a free additive manufacturing workshop held in April and the development of a new AFS Institute course Design & Optimization for 3D Sand Printing.
