Agricultural Casting Eliminates Machining, Trims Cost


Cast Component: Knife blade holder. Material: 4140 steel. Process: Investment casting.


Application: Agricultural thresher.


Casting Supplier: Signicast LLC, Hartford, Wis. Dimensions: 3.65 x 2.94 x 2.15 in.


• By converting the component from a fabrication to an investment casting, the customer improved dimensional stability, elim inating the need for a secondary straightening process and contributing to a 25% cost reduction.


• T e customer eliminated post-fabrication machining on the 1.91-lb. component, which freed machining resources for other projects.
