Information Systems in 1976 after working in various material conversion industries for more than 20 years. His vision was to create a software solution that met the unique needs of metalcasters. Since then, B&L Information Systems has worked with over 400 metalcast- ing companies, of all sizes and types, to create Odyssey; an ERP system that helps metalcast- ers manage business operations by integrating shop floor data with back office systems into an efficient information stream for all. B&L develops, markets, and supports foundry and die cast ERP software exclusively. For nearly 40 years, B&L has used their deep understanding of the specific challenges and problems of foundries and die casters to continually create and update ERP solutions which match the way metalcasters operate, making B&L software easier to learn and use. Dick Laney always stressed excellence in customer service, and these principals remain a driving force at B&L today. While technol- ogy is continually changing, the keys to B&L’s success continue to remain: • Metalcasting Industry Focus • Award-Winning Customer Service • Industrial Strength Product Reliability • Continuous Education Opportunities • Active and Involved User Group Current CEO, Philip Laney, has overseen several significant technology innovations which continue B&L’s commitment to sup- porting the modern metalcasting industry. In 2009 B&L made Odyssey, which is designed

to operate on Windows servers, available as Software as a Service (SaaS). Due to the flex- ible nature of Odyssey SaaS, both small and large metalcasters have quickly realized the benefits and implemented the B&L solution. This convenient model minimizes the cost of entry as well as the need for a technical staff to maintain the software.

NEW PRODUCTS Odyssey is now in release 4.7. B&L’s dedicated R&D department included over 100 improvements in the latest development cycle that range from simple user experience tweaks to full-fledged business logic enhance- ments. The largest, and most important, of these improvements is the introduction of the Web User Interface (UI) for Odyssey. The Odyssey Web UI is designed to provide users with an easy-to-use, browser-based interface coupled with all the back-end database and business logic of Odyssey in a zero-client environment. This is a historic, game changing innovation for B&L customers and continues B&L’s mission to provide the highest quality software for metalcasters.
