The Many Faces of Hospital Volunteers


I liked your article about hospital volunteers (July


edition of VFW Auxiliary Magazine). My mother-in- ODZ ZDV DQ (QJOLVK ZDU EULGH DQG ZDV À HUFHO\ OR\DO to this country and to the men and women who served it. Here in Vancouver, Wash., she logged the most volunteer hours of anyone at the time. In fact, she put all the time she could into all functions of the Auxiliary. My son was “Buddy”®

numerous parades when he was little. My mother-in- law has been gone 10 years now, but she made sure I had a Life Membership before she passed. I miss her and all the stories she had to tell. Nothing could keep her away from the Veterans Hospital. She could never give enough to the organization she so proudly belonged to. Her name was Patricia Tallon Blair. From the Editors: The recommendation of the Life Membership Committee of a Life Membership fee increase, covered on Page 15 of the May edition of the VFW Auxiliary Magazine, was amended at the VFW Auxiliary’s 103rd National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., and will be a 15 percent increase in each category, effective January 1, 2017.

Auxiliary member and my mom was Department of Montana President Peggy Hughes. I remember writing essays and doing artwork. It was such a pleasure


to see the winners of the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. To me, they are all winners. I loved


the articles telling about each picture. What great insight and knowledge these young people express in their art and words. I enjoy the articles in the VFW Auxiliary Magazine.
