OURHISTORY
Flags in Every Classroom
Thanks to a project initiated by Auxiliary 1566 Americanism Chairman Neva Wilk in 1976, more than 1,100 American Flags were proudly displayed in classrooms in the cities and county of Saginaw, Michigan. It was the largest Flag project of Auxiliary 1566 to date. Wilk began raising funds for the project by selling her homemade candy and jelly. The Auxiliary added to this sum with bake and rummage sales and a lasagna dinner. Wilk said the project “helped bring back the real meaning of the Flag.”
