t National Headquarters, staff members always get to see all the Department winners. This is a privilege and a joy…and one they want to share with everyone! At this last National


Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, National Headquarters brought every Department winner to display in the Exhibit Hall. There are only eight national winners, but the talent and patriotism expressed goes beyond that. Not only will all the top Department- winning art pieces come again to National Convention in 2017, but they will be judged on location.


Other changes to the contest:


 Students must be a maximum of 18 years of age at time of local entry. With many non-traditional schools and educational platforms, this age requirement needed to be added.


 Students must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.


 7KH QDWLRQDO À UVW SODFH ZLQQHU ZLOO QRW FRPH WR 1DWLRQDO Convention since the judging will take place at Convention.


 Students may sign their artwork, though local and Department contests might want to cover the signatures to prevent favoritism.


 On the application where it states, “Please attach a typed explanation of patriotism expressed in art,” a maximum of


150 words has been added.

 When mailing the art, we suggest you have a professional shipping company package it to prevent damage.


 Every student entrant should get their art back as soon as possible.


 The art belongs to the student, not only physically but as intellectual property, too.

TYK ANSWER: Auxiliaries must complete four audits per year. They are due every year by April 30 (for January, February, March); July 31 (for April, May, June); October 31 (for July, August, September); and January 31 (for October, November, December). See Section 814 of the National Bylaws for more information on this essential duty of an Auxiliary.
