MEMBERSPOTLIGHT You could say that Montana Senior Vice-
President Snoma “Sno” Meagher has led a double life. Meagher is American Indian, Blackfoot, and Irish. Her mother passed away when she was a baby, and at age 2, she was adopted by a family off the reservation. She was named after her birthplace – Snoma means “many quail in the valley of the snow.” “I lived three months every year with my
Indian grandmother until I was 12 and learned our language and how to survive,” she said. “The other nine months I was with my other family learning the white way and to speak English.” Meagher grew up and went on to explore
several professions – she became a licensed nurse practitioner, has a degree in sociology and she also attended culinary school. Now retired, she works on her sculpture and is writing a book about her life both on and off the reservation called “Living on the Edge of Two Worlds.”
