suggestion and have since tried different sources to procure an old mailbox with


no success. We have been told by U.S. Postal Service that it is illegal and they will not sell “old” mailboxes. :H GHÀQLWHO\ ZDQW WR HPEUDFH WKLV FRQFHSW How did that Auxiliary get their mailbox? How can we


also obtain one other than having one made? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

In researching an answer to this question, we discovered a recent change to the USPS Handbook that prohibits any release of a collection box (USPS mailbox) to an unauthorized agency. As a consequence, we do NOT recommend repurposing


mailboxes for Flag Exchange/Disposal programs. Instead, we encourage Auxiliaries to build appropriate receptacles or collect them at their Post or Auxiliary. We are so glad you are interested in this concept!
