picture of the global research landscape. Using artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and big data analytics, wizdom.ai provides unprecedented insights for scholarly publishers, institutions, funding bodies, industry and governments to accelerate the pace of global research. It contains 2.7 billion factual data points, interconnected with 78 million publications, 700 million citations, 50 million researchers, $700 billion in research funding, 60,000 journals, 50,000 institutions, 289 million concepts and 150 terabytes of web crawl data, continuously increasing as it monitors the global research activity in real-time. wizdom.ai analytics, presented as

grants, have the highest social attention and citation activity, and are witnessing a sudden surge in publications or patents. Drill down further to identify the countries, institutions and researchers leading these research areas. Academic publishers can gain deep-

analytics about any of the 60,000 journals’ publications, citations and key authors. By integrating sales and downloads data with wizdom.ai journal analytics, publishers can optimally align their content with the areas where research is headed. To find out more, visit www.wizdom.ai and view

UNSILO UNSILO extracts ‘DNA fingerprints’ from text documents. Using the latest machine learning techniques combined with natural language processing tools, UNSILO’s automatic concept extraction engine requires no in-house software experts to operate. It is a cloud-based service that indexes content in seconds to identify the core concepts of each document. These DNA fingerprints are used to identify links across content, to reveal trending topics, to automate indexing that was formerly a manual operation. UNSILO can be used with or without domain taxonomies, and works either with structured or unstructured text. UNSILO’s concept extraction is used in academic publishing, in patent applications and research, and in healthcare. UNSILO is a Danish company founded in 2012. It has been providing related content features on SpringerLink – one of the world’s largest collections of academic articles and books – since 2014, and works with partners within science, IP, and legal publishing. The presentation will describe some of the key technologies UNSILO uses to identify key concepts in documents.

All exhibitors, visitors and conference delegates can download a free copy of LII 2016’s exclusive research partner Outsell’s Information Industry Outlook 2017. Outsell asks the question: for the $1.5 trillion information industry, where does the number one growth opportunity lie? Data magnetisation. Today, everyone is a data provider, user, and maker, and the swelling number of applications for machine-driven data analytic solutions offer amazing opportunities. The key theme for Outsell’s Information Industry Outlook 2017, All Data, Nothing But Data, highlights the top 10 important industry trends, with data at the epicenter. The report also highlights other key trends,

including: l Innovation demands the de-siloing of data with opportunities available for new service models;

l The platform model is rising as product-oriented strategy evolves – be it on a platform, or riding on someone else’s;

l Advertising might survive by getting smarter, and with increasing cybersecurity concerns, firms that specialise in cybersecurity will become hot M&A targets;

l Talent trends are changing now that data is a foundational element of product strategy;

What people are saying

‘As our world is changing we need to understand the motivation and beliefs of all the participants in the scholarly communications chain. This event brings together important and representative voices of research funders, the library community, commercial publishers and start-ups, who are all seeking to help research and researchers. We think this conference will help all participants both

to reflect on the current dynamic and help shape future direction.’ Vincent Cassidy, conference co- chair, LII 2016 ‘A remarkable

remobilisation of the British information scene, or rather, the information scene which, in Europe, is best accessed via London. This means that a significant degree of internationalisation has been achieved, and talks are mainly given by

company founders and top-level managers. ‘Yes, there is a heavy

focus on scientific information, but the topics discussed are also of interest to information professionals, who mainly work in the private sector. Although we are still a way from three simultaneous tracks of Online Information, this is the current international crème de la crème.’ Willi Bredemeier, Password
