This is what the rental market needs was the consensus when

ALTRAD Belle exhibited its new range of GPX Generators at the

Hire Association Trade Fair. Customers remembered the

build quality, reliability and performance of their previous models and it was at the insistence of national hire companies that they have now returned to the market with a range that’s manufactured for the harshest rental conditions. Their engines and alternators

are protected from physical damage by a very robust large diameter frame and side protection plates. Whilst a bottom protection baseplate aids the machines use on soft ground conditions by preventing ingression of mud and debris into any moving parts. Powered by Honda the range of

2.7 kVA; 3.4 kVA & 5 kVA generators all feature; low engine oil cut-off and electric overload protection with a choice of 110v and 230v screw-in sockets. The high quality and heavy duty industry leading NSM alternator and plug

sockets are protected from damage by a steel enclosed top box, whilst the over- sized four-point anti-vibration mounts provide maximum stability and performance from each model within the range. The patent pending stackable frame won huge praise from all the HSEQ

Managers from the national hire companies, as they identified the benefits that this unique system offers. Rental companies can benefit from safely storing units one on top of the other

by using a secured safety pin, thus saving valuable workshop and showroom space. Whilst a single point lifting minimizes manual handling risk as well as reducing

our environmental impact by removing packaging for transportation. On the back of a full pre -sales order book, product is now hitting the rental

market and ALTRAD Belle envisages a very busy season as hire companies pick up on all the features and benefits that make these units truly fit for hire. For further details visit www.altrad-belle.com

ignoring them. Max Cullip from Dust Control is an expert on the problem and the company’s range of H-Class machines provide excellent solutions for many top end users. Solving the same problem, but for an audience that still needs the push to include dust collection into their tool budgets, is V-TUF. With a booklet on the dangers of dust aimed squarely at smaller contractors, it also provides a small, practical and above all, affordable, machine capable of collecting dust on site and in the workshop. Other exhibitors had marvellous ways of DNA marking of tools or ingenious

methods of preventing theft, or indeed, tracking machines once they are stolen. Altrad Belle had just a few of its enormous range of no-nonsense ‘up and at

“em’ hire tools on show with solid trade and hire appeal, while Marcrist’s diamond discs are also great solutions to efficient cutting of hard materials. Morris Site Machinery should not be underestimated for the range and quality of its lighting towers and other hire machines, and their Makinex Powered Hand Truck is still finding a range of satisfied users – the demo is usually the killer selling point.

Product quality and good after sales service prompts more Volvo

deliveries for Bryan Contractors Bryan Contractors of Caputh, near Perth has added another new Volvo ECR88D reduced-swing excavator and a fourteen tonne EC140E excavator to its plant fleet for its general contracting and ground works business. The two new machines were chosen thanks to the reliability, quality and after

sales service partner Mike Bryan has experienced since taking his first Volvo back in 2007. The ECR88D which has

been supplied by SMT GB’s utility dealer for the north of Scotland – CSM Sales Ltd, has been equipped with optional steel tracks. The SMT Customer Support Centre at Stirling made a slight modification to the dozer blade to extend it to cover the width of the tracks. The machine has been enhanced by the addition of a Geith ‘thumb’ mounted to the underside of the dipper arm that works off of the hammer/shear hydraulic circuit, and thus works independently from the bucket cylinder. The ‘thumb’ is also designed to clamp to the bucket’s cutting edge without interfering with the bucket teeth. “The combination of the machine and the Geith attachment has proved to be very versatile - picking and sorting stone and handling diverse material such as timber, concrete and rubble,” says Mike. The Volvo ECR88D is powered by a Volvo 2.6 litre low emission engine and

offers a horizontal reach of 7.3 metres, a dig depth of 4.5 metres and a lift capacity of 1020kg at full reach across the carriage. The EC140E model is powered by Volvo stage IV compliant 4 cylinder engine

developing 121 hp. The machine’s ‘Integrated work mode control’ provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles coupled to significantly low fuel consumption. For more information visit www.volvoce.com or www.smt.network
