Charity & Anniversary News ForgeFix ScrewsArt™ fundraising
goes intergalactic Leading distributor of fixings, fasteners, power tool accessories and hardware, ForgeFix looks set to repeat its success in using an innovative form of art to raise money for charity. Earlier this year, the business donated a 1.2m by 1m portrait of music icon
David Bowie, which was created using 4000 of its ForgeFast elite performance woodscrews, for sale at a silent charity auction held at the NMBS Gala Dinner. The picture subsequently sold for £1000 with all proceeds being donated to
CRASH - the construction industry charity which supports homeless and hospice charities with free advice, practical assistance and financial aid. Now, the company aims to go one better with a new portrait of Carrie Fisher. This time, the tribute to the recently deceased actress has been created using
over 5000 ForgeFast screws. It features Carrie in perhaps the most famous role of her career - as the iconic Princess Leia from Star Wars. The latest portrait enjoyed
pride of place on the ForgeFix stand at the UK Construction Week (UKCW) exhibition 2017, which ran from October 10th to 12th. In the near future, the business will once again donate the portrait to NMBS so its sale can be used to raise funds for CRASH. ForgeFix began creating the
screw-based portraits of legends from the world of music, sport and film - which the business has dubbed ScrewsArt™ - as a unique and fun way of demonstrating the capabilities of its ForgeFast range. ForgeFix has positioned its
ForgeFast screws in a new and elite performance category due to their exceptional characteristics in a range of areas including corrosion resistance, fixing speed and ease, holding power, pull-out and more. The Leia picture, and all of the ScrewsArt™ portraits, have been created with
the help of existing and potential customers who attended the ForgeFast launch events last year and by visitors to ForgeFix's stand at various trade shows and exhibitions People have been offered the opportunity to insert screws into different
templates to enable them to experience some of the benefits to ForgeFast first- hand. Speaking of the Princess Leia ScrewsArt™ picture, Brian Trevaskiss, marketing
manager at ForgeFix, said: "When the Bowie ScrewsArt™ picture was auctioned for charity earlier this year we were both surprised and delighted by the level of demand for the portrait and by the subsequent amount of money it helped to raise for CRASH.
"We decided to build on that
achievement with our latest piece, depicting the much-loved Princess Leia. Given the popularity of Star Wars and the pending release of the latest film in the franchise, ‘The Last Jedi', we're hoping our newest creation will prove even more popular - and raise even more money." ForgeFix also created a
second ScrewsArt™ picture for UKCW, which was of award- winning broadcaster, Steph McGovern. The portrait was given to
Steph as a gift whilst she was at the exhibition to present her regular and roving BBC One Breakfast slot. She went on to praise the picture live on national TV.

FEIN Power Tools: The Leaders in
Oscillating Technology for 50 years This year marks the 50th anniversary of FEIN introducing oscillating technology in power tools. Within five decades, FEIN has invented several well-known brands of the oscillating multi tool and a raft of industry technologies for both the tool and associated accessories. Since 2009 FEIN’s technology has been copied and re- developed, with every main competitor now selling oscillating tools in the UK market. The first oscillating machine was the plaster-cast saw that was introduced into
the market in 1967. This machine was designed specifically for use in hospitals to safely remove plaster-casts. A version of this saw is still in use today. Fast-forward to 1984, FEIN developed the special cutter for the high-speed
removal of vehicle windscreens. In 1986 FEIN then used the oscillating technology to develop an oscillating delta sander - an industry first. Apart from the unsurpassed reputation for ‘Made in Germany’ quality,
durability and reliability, the USP of the current range of machines is the anti- vibration technology, which is incorporated into all but the entry level corded machines including the FEIN cordless oscillating range. Now that the industry understands more about how vibration and noise can affect the health of the user, FEIN has developed an anti-vibration system that reduces the HAV by 70% and the noise level by 50% against the previous version. In real terms this means that all of the current range of FEIN accessories can be
used for up to eight hours a day and the user will still be under the daily limit for exposure to vibration. The new Starlock fitting system means that the user can change accessories in
just three seconds without the need of an Allen key. The patented Starlock system is also more efficient in transferring power to the accessory and therefore the work piece, resulting in speeding-up each application making each job more time efficient. The FEIN Starlock accessories
can be used on all other manufacturers OMT’s and can even enhance the performance of their machine. For more information on the
FEIN oscillating range please visit your local FEIN dealer or visit
