Totally Tools Review

Best New Product Award at Totally DIY & Tools Patlock, the Secured by Design internal patio door security device recommended by crime prevention officers, has won the Best New Product in Show. The New Product Showcase and Innovation Zones were sponsored by BHETA, British Home Enhancement Trade Association. Two Highly Commended certificates were also awarded: for Grakob’s PlumbThumbs radiator capping tool and Trig Jig’s digital coving and skirting mitring tools. Patlock’s certification under the Secured by Design scheme has led to police

crime prevention officers recommending its use to householders, especially where there is an elderly or vulnerable person in the home. “One of the main forms of criminal entry to properties is through lock snapping from the outside of patio doors. Patlock secures patio door handles from the inside of the home,” says Sales Director Jim Law. “The quick-release method inside the home means Patlock can be removed by the householder with ease when required.” Already stocked in major retail outlets, Patlock is expanding its network of independent retail stockists by exhibiting at Totally DIY & Tools.

Patlock Managing Director, Craig Knott, added: “There are so many good

products in the BHETA Innovation Zone and the show’s New Product Showcase that we are honoured to have won this award. This is our first time at Totally DIY & Tools and we’ve found it a great show.” Two products also achieved Highly Commended status. Firstly, Grakob’s

PlumbThumbs, a device for capping off radiator connections so that radiators can be removed without draining. It is aimed at both the retail DIY and builders’ merchant market. Also Highly Commended were TrigJig digital coving and skirting mitring tools,

suitable for DIYers and tradesmen alike. TrigJig tools are particularly useful for mitring awkward angles. Already receiving great accolade via their Facebook page, TrigJig’s producers, HICI Ltd, launched the range to the trade at Totally DIY & Tools 2017.

Welcome To The National DIY Show Taking place on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th June 2018, the National DIY Show will be held at the Ericsson Hall at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Formerly known as Totally DIY & Tools, the show will have the same retail trade DIY and builders’ merchant visitor base, with the Sunday opening enabling high street hardware & homewares retailers to attend without taking precious selling time out of the business. The show will also double in size. “Our focus over the last 20 years has been on providing innovative and international products for independent retailers.

Returning to a Sunday show opening we are responding to demands from this key section of our visitors,” says Event Manager Lucyanne Matthews. “The new show will feature various zones and plans are moving ahead towards a special new forum for the trade. More detail will be announced shortly.” This year’s Totally DIY & Tools show held on 14-15 February 2017 at the Ricoh featured 80 exhibitors with a wider

national and international base than previous shows. The BHETA Innovation Zone of new and emerging products also doubled in size from 2016. “We look forward to welcoming even more exhibitors to the 2018 show, and thank all our visitors for attending this year,” Lucyanne Matthews adds.
