letter from the publisher T

hese are challenging times for sure, and it saddens me that so many Americans are living in fear. Fear is

the opposite of Love. It is easy to become consumed by False Fears if you choose to watch mainstream media news or read certain national newspapers. I need not name these outlets; hopefully, you share my opinion that much of mainstream news

is corrupt. But what about the children who are not yet wise enough to know the difference?

When in doubt about a particular medical study or a new report, I remind myself to “follow the money.” Who is actually funding the study? Years ago I learned that pharmaceutical TV ads are banned (or signifi cantly limited) in many intelligent countries. It is shocking how many drug-pushing ads overwhelm our airwaves. And, even more shocking—the possible side effects from the drug are often worse than the patient’s illness. Easy to keep: My New Year’s Resolution has been to turn off the TV, or if there is a program I want to see, I record it and watch later, so I can fast-forward all the annoying drug and junk-food commercials. February is associated with Love! Every day should be fi lled with Love. Every single being wants to love—and be loved. It is our nature. We also want to be Happy! If you need a refreshing burst of good feelings, I highly recommend the Netfl ix movie called Happy! Despite the lack of modern conveniences, many third-world cultures rejoice with happiness. Excessive money does not bring happiness. As long as our basic needs are met, the most important key to happiness is family, friends and positive community involvement. Ask yourself: Before electronics (TV, video games, etc.) and the internet were invented, what things brought you happiness? I think your list will be longer than you expected! Try doing this with your family members, too. Another thing, to be certain of, is Death. It happens to all of

us! However, death should not be completely feared. As our elderly population is increasing (especially in Florida), I am happy to share the comforting words of two authors, Diane Ross and Linda Sechrist. See pages (14-17). Learn how dying gracefully is the result of a mindful, day-to-day journey. Finally, below is a favorite quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Love and Light to you all,
