art. While visiting Highlands, North Carolina, I found an artist and former Florida resident, Corey James. After Hurricane Wilma destroyed his gallery on Las Olas Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale, he moved to the Western North Carolina mountains. This beautiful piece is his rendition of Parvati and the painting is “still in the works.” Her headpiece is of rubies and pearls. Notice her necklace pendant: a Star of David with the Sanskrit Om symbol inside. She represents Peace and a Guardian of Mother Earth. Corey shares, “To me, art is a
window to another realm. It’s a door. And everybody sees something different when they look at it.” In order to share these otherworldly opportunities, he opened his gallery and art consignment shop where he houses works of art he has created, as well as other master pieces including bronze sculptures, wood carvings, lighted onyx pedestals and ceramics. He currently has a Peter Max painting I wish I could afford! If you want to escape the August heat, visit the Western NC mountains and stop in. You’ll be amazed at his selection. The Corey James Gallery, also fondly known as The Home of the Creative Engineer is located at 228 South 3rd
St, Highlands, NC 28741.
Corey also accepts consignments from local and Florida estates. He can be reached at 828-526-4818.
natural treatment plans for healing. The center offers a Membership Model, a monthly fee per child which allows lengthy visits with no wait time with the center’s integrative pediatricians, Joseph Cannizzaro, MD and Nicole Craven, MD. Integrative medicine combines well-rounded, natural care with conventional medicine. This care addresses the root cause of symptoms and stresses prevention of illness before disease persists. Because of the membership model, both doctors can spend the time necessary to diagnose and treat each child as an individual. Parents have 24/7 access to their doctor, with a choice of phone, video, or face-to- face visits that can be scheduled online. Unfortunately, there is a chronic complex disease epidemic in children, many
of which had been previously considered adult diseases, including: thyroid disease, joint disease, autoimmune illness, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, panic attacks, fatigue, myalgias, and others. Evidence-based integrative medicine combined with a concierge service produces better results, as advanced testing can be ordered and complex cases get the time they deserve. For kids who suffer from environmental or food allergies, the center offers no-needle allergy drops that are just as effective as shots, but with no side- effects. They are FDA-approved and safe for young children. For more info about integrative pediatric medicine and CIPC’s membership model, go to
www.MyCIPC.com. You can also schedule a meet-and-greet with a pediatrician. Also, on September 15 at 6:00 pm, CIPC welcomes all parents to an in-offi ce
event on the topic of Anxiety, ADHD and alternative treatments. RSVP by emailing
NurseMel@MyCIPC.com or call the offi ce at 321-280-5867. Cannizzaro Integrative Pediatric Center is located at 357 Wekiva Springs Road, Longwood, 32779.
