more about the state of the industry. Devised as a way to help create angler numbers and therefore drive business to the shops, the TAFF is a simple route to grow the sport – just get one of your customers to Take A Friend Fishing – and if they like it you’ll then have two customers! Thanks to the groundbreaking consumer survey conducted back in 1987, the industry was able to identify key areas for improvement in recruiting new anglers and increasing participation levels. was born. This initiative encourages experienced anglers to become coaches and introduce a newcomer to the sport. In addition, the campaign targets children from eight years upwards through school projects and community groups. Over the years, Take A Friend Fishing has seen immense success, with participation levels reaching over four million by 1989. Today, the campaign has been revamped to reflect changing attitudes and lifestyles in a digital world. Despite the challenges posed by a lack of

industry and angling clubs, the modern TAFF programme seeks to add value to various projects across the country that promote angling and recruit newcomers. This year’s TAFF programme begins on April 1st and runs through the Easter period, with existing fishing licence holders able to register for a free one-day licence from the Environment Agency and take someone they know fishing. The process will be repeated during the August school holidays alongside the National Fishing Month campaign. In addition to promoting the TAFF principle, the new TAFF campaign platform offers opportunities for individual clubs, fisheries, and organizations supporting TAFF to promote their events and initiatives. By breaking down barriers to angling and promoting easy access to the sport, TAFF not only offers an exciting adventure but also helps increase memberships and promote long-term growth in angling. Don’t miss out on this thrilling opportunity to share the joy of angling with your friends. Visit the TAFF website at http://www. takeafriendfishing.co.uk or get in touch with the ATA via http://www. anglingtradesassociation.com to learn more about this exciting campaign. Supporting TAFF costs nothing more than a few minutes of your time, so why not join the movement and help grow the sport of angling?
