If you’ve never visited The Winding House museum before, this half term will be the perfect introduction! Only 40 minutes from Cardiff with onsite parking, easy access and a tempting coffee shop, the Winding House Museum is a modern museum offering a truly hands-on FREE day out. Discover Valleys Life in the past - create your own prehistoric clay pots, dress up, take selfies in the medieval stocks or ‘enjoy’ the smells of a WW2 air raid shelter! Join them this Half Term and discover the new exhibition “Back in my Day” – Childhood in the Valleys. A fascinating collection of objects and images from Victorian school rooms to treasured toys with plenty of hands on fun included! Plus, during Half Term you’ll also be able to have a go at making your own ‘toys from the past’ for only £2.50 per child. Museum entry to the galleries is free. The Winding House Museum


Cardiff Jump has enormous adventure play-frames: a space zone, a galleon and an enchanted castle. At 27,000 sq feet it is the largest dedicated indoor soft play centre in the UK! There are also huge inflatables, an indoor football pitch, and an enormous zone just for toddlers. They also offer themed party rooms, a café and different activities every day. Whatever your age, there’s a whole week of science fun at Techniquest! Not just 120 hands-on exhibits but a fascinating science show and mind-boggling Planetarium shows to entertain you – whatever the weather! Don’t miss the exciting Fire & Ice show in the Science Theatre. Can ice burn? Can we start a fire with steam? In this spectacular show we take a look at what happens when things get really hot and when things get really cold. Come to our half-term extravaganza and see an ice-powered cannon and find-out how to turn a banana into a hammer with liquid nitrogen. Plus, don’t miss the fascinating presenter-led Star Tours in Wales’ only digital Planetarium – take a journey through space for a close-up look at distant galaxies and exploded stars. There's something to keep everyone entertained for a couple of hours or more plus you’ll find puzzles, books, science kits and much more in Techniquest’s shop. When it’s time for a break, take a seat in the coffee shop and choose from its wide selection of locally-sourced drinks, sandwiches and snacks.
