Tech CEO backs Rugby Sevens Club


Rugby sevens side Ponty Butchers has secured its short-term fi nancial future, thanks to the backing of Welsh businessman Lawrence Jones MBE, CEO of internet hosting fi rm UKFast. Jones,


a known


philanthropist and passionate rugby fan, is contributing sponsorship to support the club through the upcoming season. Ponty Butchers, based in Pontardawe, Swansea, is run by volunteers and made up of local Welsh- based players from across the Welsh Premiership, Welsh Championship and local club leagues. THE COMPETITION is heating up as two local butchers compete to be named Q Guild’s BBQ Supreme Champion 2017.


Butchers from across Wales tested their BBQ products in six categories at the regional awards with only two making their way to the National Final to be held in Nottinghamshire on 21st May.


South Wales proved itself to be prime BBQ territory with Moody Sow, Cefn Mably Farm Park and Martin Player High Class Butcher, Whitchurch splitting the awards between them. Martin Player High Class Butcher came out on top, taking four out of the six awards for its pork sausage and sirloin steak, which must be prepared with only salt and pepper according to the competition rules; as well as its speciality BBQ products, pork & wild garlic sausage and Ploughman Burger. Moody Sow claimed victory in the remaining two categories for its beef burger and Mad Mexican steak.


The butchers will now make their way to Nottinghamshire in hopes of being crowned King of the Grill. The Q Guild currently has over 120 members, and is a seal of
