Willie MacRae’s car at the scene above Loch Loyne on the A8 between Invergarry and Cluanie.
surrounding MacRae’s death has been ‘solved’.
“This claim hinges on anecdotal evidence that Willie’s car was moved from the scene of the shooting too soon by the police, then clandestinely returned later so that photos could be taken but there is no offi cial police record of this,” said Paterson.
“It’s being off ered as an explanation as to why the gun was a distance away from the car. It seems to me that it off ers more reason to have a formal inquiry into Willie’s death – normal procedure seems to have ignored, indeed subverted.
“As a theory it does nothing to explain away the evidence that supports MacRae having been under surveillance as he made his fi nal journey. There are too many pieces of this puzzle – too many to be explained away by the car being moved.
“I think it’s interesting that this story appeared a week aſt er the petition for a Fatal Accident Inquiry was launched.”
On the 30th anniversary of MacRae’s death on 6 April a petition was launched on human rights platform 38 degrees to ask for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into the lawyer’s death with the intention of presenting it to Scotland’s Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC.
