The Analysis Forums
Going global
Forums International are aiming for a truly worldwide reach

We have been running credit and industry forums since 1991 in the UK and Europe, however we have only run one further afield back in 2000 for the IT Sector in Dubai. So this September we did a first by crossing the Atlantic and running one in Canada. The International Telecoms Risk Forum
was formed in 2001 and has members from across the globe. To date, our Canadian and USA members have always travelled to the UK and Europe for meetings so this year we only thought it fair that we went to them. On 13 and 14 September we travelled to
Montreal for the ITRF Forum which was hosted by TATA Communications. Firstly, a big thank you to TATA for hosting the meeting and showing us the
sights.Secondly, thanks to all the members who made the trip from the UK, USA (New York, Dallas, and Washington) Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Spain (Madrid and Barcelona), and also the regional TATA credit managers. This was a first for us to have members
fact, do you know who to contact? It is probably not your local police station. You may have heard of Action Fraud and, if so, do you know what they do? At our last Business & Office Supplies
Credit Forum hosted by AIG in London we had Alexander Eristavi, detective sergeant, business stakeholder manager, National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) City of London Police and Max Bruce, cyber protect officer, NFIB Cyber Protect City of London Police. Whatever you have heard about Action
who were unable to attend in person joining the forum via Skype. Something we have discussed in the past but this was the first time in operation. It worked really well so we had the majority of our members joining in physically or virtually thereby giving us true global coverage. We are now considering virtual attendance for some of our other forums. Montreal was 2018 and we now have an offer to hold one in Dallas Texas which we are considering. In the 17 years we have been running the telecoms forum the
industry has developed and changed. To date we have focused on wholesale voice. However the sector is now more than just voice. As such, the ITRF is changing to keep pace with the expanding
industry and what our member companies are delivering. We are now adding to voice the following business segments: Data, Business and Enterprise, Digitisation, Mobile, E-mail, Internet of Things, Machine to Machine, Satellite, Video, VoiP, Web/Internet and Wireless. If you are in these industries please give me a call to discuss. My second subject, fraud, still seen as the fastest growing industry. Question: what do you do when you suspect or uncover a fraud? In

Fraud in the past, please forget it. It has changed for the better since it came under the NFIB wing. Too much information for this short article but some highlights are: l Around one in 10 people have been a victim of fraud or cyber-crime. l Billions of pounds of losses to victims and the UK economy. l 3.2 million fraud and 1.5 million computer misuse (cyber) offences according to Crime Survey England and Wales published in January 2018 by the ONS. l It is estimated over half of fraud incidents were cyber-related with either internet or online activity involved during the offending.
