Else Solicitors has announced the promotion of three team members to senior positions. Felicity Fisher will become head of commercial property, Laura Charles becomes head of debt recovery, and Kim Hylton has been promoted to marketing executive. The Association of Short Term Lenders (ASTL) has announced its new executive committee for the upcoming year. Benson Hersch, CEO of the ASTL, will be joined by six additional board members: Adrian Bloomfield, Barton Bridging Capital; Brian West, Central Bridging; Emma Ryan, Octopus; Gavin Diamond, UTB; James Bloom, Masthaven Bank; and Scott Marshall, Roma Finance. Mr Hersch said: “I am confident that the
new executive committee will continue to work to raise standards within the ASTL and its wider membership, while also increasing awareness of the value of bridging and of the short term secured lending market.”

New figures released by the Finance & Leasing Association show that asset-finance new business (primarily leasing and hire purchase) grew by 16% in June, compared with the same month last year, and by 12% in the second quarter of 2017 overall. The plant and machinery finance and IT
equipment finance sectors reported new business up in June by 37% and 17% respectively, compared with the same month in 2016. Geraldine Kilkelly, head of research and
chief economist, said: “The asset-finance market reported its sixth consecutive month of growth in June, with new business in the first half of 2017 up by 11% compared with the same period in 2016.”

Earl Shilton Building Society has given its backing to a local disability group, raising money for a summer excursion to Trentham Gardens, near Stoke on Trent. Barwell and Earl Shilton Disability Group,
a self-funded organisation which caters for adults of all ages with a wide range of additional needs, keeps its members as active as possible whilst also giving them an environment in which to socialise. Bob Lucas, Barwell and Earl Shilton Disability Group’s treasurer, said: “We are very grateful to Earl Shilton Building Society for their generous donation, which will allow a number of disabled and elderly residents to enjoy a day out and provide them with an opportunity to meet new people.”
