Resort Profile

Vinit Shah, chief business development and strategy officer for Dubai Parks and Resorts, tells us more about the Middle East's largest theme park resort and why he believes it's perfectly placed to benefit from rising tourist numbers across the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

o open the largest theme park resort in the Middle East is a huge achievement for us after three years of work and a multi-billion AED investment. Nothing on

this scale has ever been done before. With over 100 rides and attractions constructed across three parks and a 30.6 million square feet (285 hectares) site in the same time- frame, it's definitely been a very busy process. We knew we had to get it right, but we were always

confident we had measures in place to guarantee a magnificent and memorable launch. We had a team of leading experts on board, who together brought with them over 500 years’ experience designing and creating some of the world’s best theme parks. Our 42 contractors employed 15,000 workers on site. We think that every second of that experience shines through in our unique attractions across Dubai Parks and Resorts. What I love is that each of the three theme parks –

MOTIONGATE™ Dubai, Bollywood Parks™ Dubai and LEGOLAND® Dubai – has diverse and unique attractions, but each is inspired by themes cherished by all ages, whether that's Lego, Hollywood or Bollywood. Motiongate Dubai is a Hollywood-inspired movie

park with 27 key rides and attractions based on 13 blockbuster films from DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Studios and Lionsgate. From rollercoasters and water rides to live shows and children’s play areas, there is a mix of entertainment for all ages. Guests can ride the Madagascar Mad Pursuit indoor rollercoaster, go on the first ever life-size Shrek ride, take part in a training academy with the Ghostbusters, or set sail on the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs – River Expedition. At the time of writing, the Lionsgate and DreamWorks zones are partially open, with some attractions under technical rehearsal, including what will be the first ever Hunger Games ride anywhere in the world. The rest of Dubai Parks and Resorts is now fully

operational. In Bollywood Parks Dubai, the first theme park based on the sights and sounds of Mumbai's magical movie industry, visitors will experience live performances, themed restaurants and cinematic rides and attractions. Bollywood Parks is also home to the Rajmahal Theatre, an opulent 850-seat arena that stages a Broadway-quality Bollywood-themed musical several nights a week. At Legoland Dubai there are six themed lands filled

with 40 rides and over 15,000 model structures made from 60 million Lego bricks. I’m also very excited by the new Legoland Water Park, which opened in January with more than 20 water slides and attractions. Dubai Parks and Resorts is designed to be a family destination for all seasons. Taking into account the warm weather that we enjoy here in Dubai, we have taken great care to ensure guests will be comfortable and a large proportion of the rides and attractions are located indoors. All of the parks have been designed with ample shade and cool areas, and in the hot weather guests need spend only a few minutes outside at any one time.
