Sporting an all-black look and satin-black physical vapour deposition (PVD) finish, the clubs are precision engineered with 360 Face Cup technology to increase ball speeds and forgiveness in the longer irons (4-7) and enhanced feel and distance control in the shorter irons (8-PW). Bright day for young golfers at Palace

ground, Selhurst Park. Bright teamed up with the Golf Foundation and

F

Crystal Palace FC Foundation to create a nine-hole course that enabled boys and girls to hit shots down the players’ tunnel, chip into the dugout, shoot into goal, drive from the stand onto the pitch, and putt in the trophy room – all followed by a picnic in the centre circle. The Golf Foundation’s StreetGolf format enables young people to

design a course to suit their environment and links up with local community sports projects throughout the country. Eighteen professional football clubs now work with the Golf

Foundation’s HSBC Golf Roots programme which aims to introduce the game to children from a non-golfing background. Golf Foundation chief executive Brendon Pyle said: “The staff at Crystal

Palace were absolutely superb in welcoming all the young people. Premier League 4 Sport, which has helped over 80,000 young people get involved in sport in their local communities in less than seven years, provides golf with the opportunity to reach a much wider audience using the power of football.”

rise in prize money to a record £116,000 (€150,000). The 2016 winner will take home a cheque for

When I first started hosting it, the first prize was £5,000 which just shows you the progress that has been made in such a short space of time.” The event is bookended by two Celeb-Am days on July 26 and 29 which

will feature several TV and sports personalities. Male and female professionals can qualify through the Midlands-based

Eagle Golf Tour event at Nailcote Hall on Monday, June 6. Qualifying for amateurs is on Sunday, June 12 while a junior open for nine-15 year-olds will take place on Sunday, June 26. See www.theeagletour.co.uk/tournaments/the-british-par-3-

service analysts, 59club. The company’s core service, used by hundreds of golf

clubs and resorts across Europe and the Middle East, provides audited tests on a bi-monthly basis. But by purchasing a licence to the my59 soſtware, managers can now arrange their own internal audits and member surveys at no additional cost. Simon Wordsworth (pictured above leſt), chief executive of 59club and a

PGA fellow, said: “Effectively, the self-test soſtware acts as a club manager’s eyes and ears, as and when required, and the process is simple to implement. “This empowers managers to be in full control. They can identify the current performance levels of their teams, set standards for any onsite franchises, and highlight strengths and weaknesses within the club.” Clubs purchasing a my59 licence before July 1 will receive the soſtware

free for the rest of 2016 and pay only £250 for the whole of 2017. Aſter the initial promotion, increasing membership participation (IMP) and Golfmark venues can enjoy a 25 per cent discount on the standard cost of £500.
