CARRIER
Carrier is supplying two high performance, high effi ciency air-cooled AquaSnap chillers for a new R&D centre at a leading UK engineering company. The AquaSnap 30RBP 430 liquid chillers, with Greenspeed intelligence and based on Carrier scroll compressors, will provide a total of 2000kW of cooling for the new R&D facility, administrative offi ces, and catering and communal areas. The chillers are equipped with two refrigerant circuits, with three compressors in each circuit, giving excellent resilience and reliability – key factors in the specifi cation. Carrier 30RBP 430 chillers are designed to deliver the best value for commercial and industrial applications in which installers, consultants and building owners require reduced installation costs, optimal performance and maximum reliability.

RIELLO
Riello’s ultra-low NOx burners were key to meeting strict emissions regulations for the Gascoine Estates development in Barking, Essex. The burners have achieved average NOx emissions of 35mg/kWh – well below the ultra-low NOx threshold of 80mg/kWh. Phase One of the project comprises 290 apartments served by a central energy centre. As Barking falls within the Greater
London Authority’s London Plan, NOx emissions from the heating plant had to meet strict criteria (<40 mg/kWh). The project uses two Hoval Max 3 Plus boilers, each fi tted with a Riello RS.EV BLU modulating burner with external fl ue gas recirculation (FGR). The RS burners use electronic cam technology to control the combustion air/fuel ratio and the fl ow of recirculated fl ue gases. This modulating control ensures effi cient combustion with low emissions at all heat loads.

ALPHA
Designed to increase compatibility with older pipe layouts, Alpha Heating Innovation’s new Pipe Crossover Kit modifi es the location of the gas inlet and the primary heating return with two easy-fi t shaped copper pipes, to simplify the installation of a new Alpha boiler when replacing an older model with a diff erent pipe confi guration. Compatible with all of Alpha’s combination boilers, including the new E-Tec Plus, the release
of the Pipe Crossover Kit will allow installers to easily adapt modern boiler confi gurations to fi t with pre-existing pipe layouts. Previously, installers would have had to cut back and reposition pipes to confi gure an older layout with a new system, so this kit will save both time and excess work. Darran Smith, technical manager at Alpha, said: “Refi ts should now be as simple as fi rst time installations.”

PPS
Packaged Plant Solutions (PPS), the pre- fabricated plant specialist, has launched its range of Heat Interface Unit (HIU) utility cupboards, effi ciently providing hot water and heating on demand for large residential multi-occupancy properties. Tailored to suit a building’s requirements, the utility cupboards are built off site and are delivered fully fi tted with HIUs, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery ventilation systems and underfl oor heating capability. They include associated
piping and electricals, as well as washing machine space. The cupboards are available as a standardised option for simple projects, but can be built bespoke to any type of design requirements. Andrew Miele, managing director of PPS, said: “With residential space at a premium, we believe we’ve achieved an effi cient, compact solution that overcomes cost and installation challenges.”

VIESSMANN
Viessmann is formally adding a domestic oil boiler to its UK product range. The Vitorondens 200-T fl oor-standing oil- condensing boiler features Viessmann’s bespoke two-stage Vitofl ame blue fl ame condensing oil technology and is future- proofed against tightening OFTEC laws on NOx emissions. The product complies with the new OFTEC requirement for maximum fl ue gas NOx emissions of 120mg/kWh, and will meet the even lower NOx emissions levels expected to be legislated in the next fi ve years. The cast iron Vitorondens 200-T, with outputs from 20.2-107.3kW, has exceptionally effi cient combustion. It features Viessmann’s Eutectoplex heating surface, and the downstream Inox-Radial stainless steel heat exchanger separates combustion and condensation, so combustion gases condense on the heat exchanger without leaving residues.

CONDAIR
Condair is off ering a new CIBSE-approved seminar on humidifi cation for facility managers (FM). The seminar provides an overview of the diff erent humidifi er types, the service requirements for each, details an FM’s responsibilities in relation to L8, and off ers trouble-shooting tips for common humidifi er issues. The CPD seminar is ideal for any contracted or in-house FM team working with or looking to install a humidifi cation system. The session is free, one-hour long and conveniently delivered over lunchtime at a company’s site or offi ce. Condair will even pick up the catering bill. The CIBSE accreditation means that the seminar’s content has been independently verifi ed to be unbiased, up-to-date and technically accurate. It also enables attendees to gain CIBSE CPD points from the convenience of their own workplace.
