People make the world go round hese last few weeks have seen the
acr industry shine. Mike Nankivell has been honoured with an OBE for services to the UK Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry and Linda McVittie has made the Women in Engineering Society’s (WES) Top 50 Women in Engineering for 2021, both highly deserving individuals who have put a great deal of work into the wider industry over the years. It seems fi tting then, that World Refrigeration Day (WRD) was dedicated to ‘Cooling Champions’, celebrating the people and careers that underpin our industry.
WRD is gathering momentum in only its third year with dedicated seminars from countries over fi ve continents which took place over the last week in June.
It’s amazing what people can do when they want to and this event provides an increasingly important vehicle where the last generation can be seen passionately conveying their commitment to the industry to the next generation.
