t is a challenging time to be a commercial building owner. With changing lockdown rules, fl uctuating customer demand and the need to operate at minimum levels of expenditure, organisations have a keen eye on income and expenditure. Tight energy management is of vital importance, and as HVAC draws a considerable proportion of a building’s energy, the specifi cation and management of plant is an important matter that needs addressing.

With heating and cooling responsible for a large portion of restaurant, hotel, offi ce energy bills, businesses could make major gains by improving the energy effi ciency of heating and cooling systems. The question is, how can you get your business meeting these fi gures?
Property owners of older buildings, in particular hospitality and retail franchisees, are fi nding they have restrictions on any major alterations to the building and often have a minimum of outdoor space to house the external units of an HVAC system.
To survive during current times, many
businesses have to consider longer opening hours, maintaining social distancing and optimising all available space (both indoors and outside) to ensure that employees and customers are comfortable but at the same time adhering to pressures on environmental and eco-friendly solutions.
