ow in the final year of its second decade The Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show has, for many people, long been the most significant annual showcase for the UK’s electronics industry. Its transformation into a three- day event two years ago enhanced its standing internationally, leading to a significant increase in participation from continental Europe and further afield. With new dates and further investment in the site infrastructure, 2017 mark s another step forward.

The announcement of the new dates was met with widespread approval among the show’s many regular

exhibitors, prompting record re-bookings for 2017. Alongside the many familiar faces returning for 2017 are a significant number of new exhibitors, among them some major players from Europe and beyond. The show takes place in a

18,000m² purpose-built venue, which is divided roughly equally between

mechanical and electronics engineerin g. In total, over 800 companies took part in 2016 and similar numbers are anticipated for 2017. 8,600 visitors passed through the doors in 2016, and advance visitor registrations indicate that the event’s pulling-power shows no sign of abating.
