PRODUCTS TECHNOLOGY FILE FLEXIBLE COUPLING FOR DIESEL DRIVES


New from Centa is CENTAFLEX-KF, a single piece lightweight flexible coupling for diesel hydraulic drives that offers high torsional stiffness, overcomes radial misalignment, has a short-term resilience to high temperatures of up to 120˚C, and offers wear resistance. This is said to enhance the range of Centa couplings for use in plant, crushers and other construction equipment. The new component consists of a lasered metal adapter


plate for the flywheel connection, with a secondary flange made of moulded reinforced plastic, bonded to an extremely strong layer of vulcanised, temperature resistant rubber. The adapter plate is considerably thinner than that of the CENTAFLEX-KE and, rather than rollers around the circumference, its stiffness is the result of the strong rubber central core, vulcanised to the mounting plate. This improved stiffness means that the engine


drive will achieve higher torque at lower engine revs. Thanks to the thinner plate, the new coupling offers short assembly connection


to the flywheel and means that you can not only mount a pump plate, but install this new coupling in spaces with tighter tolerances. Assembly is via an axial plug-in assembly which fits onto the shaft splines. The CENTAFLEX-KF can easily be adapted to a wide range of SAE sizes for reliable flywheel and hub connections, all designed to ensure the flexibility of your drive.

HEXAPOD OFFERS POSITIONING ACCURACY RACK MOUNTED SERVO DRIVE


Said to provide a significant advance in six-degree- of-freedom positioning performance, Aerotech’s HEX500-350HL high-load, precision hexapod is ideal for applications in x-ray diffraction, sensor testing, and high-force device manipulation. Said to provide guaranteed positioning accuracy specifications, this offers high-load capacity, large travel, high speeds, and sub- micrometer precision. The hexapod is actuated with six high-accuracy struts that are built with precision preloaded bearings, ball screws and drive components. It is driven by AC brushless, slotless servomotors that maximise device lifetime and performance and are directly coupled to the actuator ball-screw, enabling increased drive stiffness, higher positioning accuracy, and better minimum


incremental motion (20nm in XYZ and 0.2µrad for xyz). The strut pivot-joints are engineered to provide low friction and high stiffness, enhancing overall hexapod performance. Of benefit, the platform and base can be easily modified with user-specific features or mounting patterns. Space limitations mean that panel builders and switchgear manufacturers have to accommodate more and more mechanical and electrical components in enclosures. In response, Rittal has developed an interior installation


rail which can be easily mounted to the side, floor or roof areas of the AE compact enclosure, without any need for additional drilling through the enclosure panels. In fact use of the rail can easily double the available mounting surface inside an AE compact enclosure, the company explains. This can be placed wherever it is needed in the enclosure, is easily fixed and it will support static loads of up to 100N. A


door-operated switch can also be fitted to the rail using the supplied adapter. The rail has two rows of system punchings to create an additional mounting surface for items such as punched sections, enclosure lights, door-operated switches, door stays, cable conduit holders, etc.

Three-phase as well as single- phase servo motors are supported; and the current loop can be tuned via DIP switches, or fine-tuned using the ACS SPiiPlus MMI Application. The NanoPWM family of PWM drives was developed to provide a more compact and economical alternative to linear servo drives for applications such as wafer metrology and inspection, ultra-precision machining for processing of optical components and FPD inspection, that demand the ultimate performance with regards to stand still jitter, low velocity tracking errors and the fastest move and settle.

HANDHELD WIRE STRIPPING AND CRIMPING TOOL LAUNCHED


With Crimphandy from Phoenix Contact, wires are stripped, fitted with end sleeves, and crimped in one single step – in a process that takes less two seconds. With the handheld tool, automatic cross-section checking,


together with robust mechanics, ensure moulding that exceeds requirements. In addition, the end sleeves are fed automatically out of the internal magazine in strip form; and the square mould is suitable for all common conductor types. Weighing just 430g, this features three LEDs that provide information about operating status, while its lithium ion battery has a capacity for 2000 crimping procedures and can be fully charged within one hour. It also has a removable container for leftover insulation.
