SPONSORS INSTALLATION NEWS

ATAG Commercial supplied four floor standing XLF boilers to the historic Littlecote House Hotel, Hungerford, replacing four antique units as part of a major plant room renovation.

In order to fulfil Littlecote House Hotel’s requirements, three XL210F and one XL180F floor- standing boilers were specified and installed in early 2021; the whole process was undertaken and managed by Fareham- based mechanical & electrical building service engineers, J&B Hopkins Ltd.

The XL-F boiler utilises ‘plug and play’ technology, with the pumps, water non-return valves and flue non-return valves neatly integrated inside, resulting in reduced set-up time and costs. ATAG Commercial’s new XL-F offers outputs of 70 to 200kW

from a single boiler and up to 1.6MW in cascade. There are six XL-F boilers to choose from, available in one Single Heat Exchanger Compact (SEc) and one Single Heat Exchanger (SE) model, as well as two Double Heat Exchanger Compact (DEc) and two Double Heat Exchanger (DE) versions. All Double Heat Exchanger models have the added advantage of built-in backup, with each heat exchanger able to operate independently.

In addition, it is the most compact floor standing unit available from ATAG

Commercial (measuring just 1.8m high including the flow and return manifolds, as well as the horizontal flue), with its low water content also making it the lightest. Furthermore, the XL-F flow and return manifolds are positioned at the top of each unit, plus all the pumps, valves and connections can be fully accessed from the front. For projects requiring multiple units, up to four boilers can be installed in-line, while three or four models can also be fitted back-to-back.

The practical and logistical benefits, as well as the price competitiveness offered by Circoflo’s range of underfloor heating solutions, have led to its ClipRail system being employed for a development of nine stylish dwellings in a beautiful rural location in West Yorkshire.

Carleton Lodge Development Ltd. was set up by Moscicki Property to construct the five terraced and four large, detached properties on land at Carleton near Pontefract, to offer future occupants comfortable and economic to run, high specification homes in a secluded setting.

O’Neil Construction is leading the build, while locally based R. J. Jones is the installer of the plumbing and heating services throughout the new houses. As the sub-contractor’s founder, Rob Jones confirms his decision to use ClipRail was based on the competitive quote given by Holmfirth based merchant, Holmebuild and the service support available through Circoflo, together with

A Bright and Happy Dog Tale!

The Dogs Trust has recently opened a brand new rehoming Centre located just a couple of miles from Cardiff Bay.

The charity’s 22nd rehoming centre has been devised with man’s best friend’s welfare at the forefront of its design including the LED lighting solutions supplied by Luceco. The £13.5m project has created a canine oasis with three buildings and landscaped outside space for up to 210 dogs. The new extensive facilities include 78 light and airy “sleep & run” kennels with underfloor heating, lit with Platinum Mini Downlighters, a recessed luminaire offering an efficacy up to 117 Llm/cW, with a unique swing tab design for quick and easy installation. Circulation areas were lit with linear arrays of the Contour luminaire. The LED lighting system consists of connectable modules that can be surface mounted, suspended or recessed as at the Dogs Trust in Cardiff

forming contemporary, decorative, and highly effective illumination. Contour offers over 100,000 hours operational life, making the luminaire ideal for environments with high working hours.

Outside, Guardian Pro flood lights were used for the exercise paddocks and runs and IP65 rated Atlas bulkheads were installed around the exterior of the building with Deco Bollards lighting landscaped gardens and pathways. The perimeter roads and parking facilities were lit with Viva City Pro, a modular, slimline, performance LED street lantern offering a choice of optics and an operational working life of 100,000 hours.

The new Category C resettlement prison is set to open in early 2022 and is built on the site of the previously demolished Wellingborough Prison, which closed in 2012. HMP Five Wells will house 1,680 male prisoners and create around 700 jobs in the area. The project has been overseen by main contractor Kier and is embracing a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) concept. This will integrate digital tools to drive efficiencies in the design, construction and operation of the facility. The project is the first in a series of schemes to be undertaken as part of the Ministry of Justice’s New Prison Programme. Wieland worked with building services providers Crown House

Technologies to provide its RST® and GST® cable assemblies for the off-site prefabricated risers which fed the power, lighting and ancillary services to the individual prison cells and communal areas. All of the cabling in the cells was fully pluggable and incorporated Wieland’s GST® and GST® MINI systems. Wieland also supplied an extra low voltage lighting control system for cell lighting. The design developed for HMP Five Wells supports the MoJ’s commitment to provide safe, secure and decent prison places with a focus on supporting rehabilitation.

E Tupling: the underfloor heating specialist’s main distributor across the north of England.

In the first five houses completed, R. J. Jones’ engineers have clipped the 12mm pipe runs down across Jablite insulation ready for the flooring contractor to lay a conventional wet screed and connecting each circuit back to the plot specific manifolds provided as part of the Circoflo package. The 133mm pipe spacing and good thermal transmittance via the screed will help achieve very good occupant comfort while assisting the heating systems to run at optimum efficiency.
