Plume Labs has unveiled the first smart mobile air quality tracker that helps monitor air pollution - ‘Flow’. With the device, users can track all major pollutants that cause harm to their health, and act to avoid them with real-time updates from its companion app. Flow was recently announced as an Innovation Awards


Honoree at CES 2017 in the ‘Tech for a Better World’ category. The device was recognised for its engineering qualities, aesthetic and global community impact.

Linear Technology’s SmartMesh IP wireless sensor network (WSN) product line has expanded to address the growing needs of industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications. New capabilities include the SmartMesh VManager networking software, which increases the mesh network capacity to thousands of nodes. The new Blink mode, an ultralow power roaming node capability, reduces average current consumption of wireless sensor nodes. SmartMesh IP allows for secure deployment of battery-operated IoT sensors

THERMAL IMAGING HELPS CONSERVE BATS


Flir Systems’ T1030sc thermal imaging camera is helping bat conservation and research efforts. Bats play a major role in our ecosystem, but due to numerous threats bat populations have declined significantly over the years. Flir thermal imaging technology is now playing a key role in helping experts understand and conserve bat populations in the UK. The T1030sc is a portable, high-speed, high definition thermal


imaging and measurement camera. It is designed for researchers and scientists who need high resolution and sensitivity in a flexible, battery powered handheld package. Drawing upon 50 years of experience, this camera records full 1024 x 768 resolution images at 30 frames per second. The T1030sc lets users capture lossless HD radiometric imagery at up to 120 Hz which can be viewed, acquired, analysed and shared in Flir ResearchIR Max or MathWorks’ Matlab.

Emerson’s Daniel 3415 and 3416 Dual- Configuration Gas Ultrasonic Meters have received the industry’s first Technology Qualification (TQ) from DNV GL for fiscal gas meters. Trescal has acquired Digital Measurement Metrology (DMM), a calibration services provider based in Brampton, Toronto. The transaction consolidates Trescal’s geographical footprint and technical coverage in Canada. DMM is a L-A-B accredited laboratory with skills in dimensional, force and temperature. Lakeshore Environmental has chosen a handheld, entry-level TigerLT photoionisation detector (PID) from Ion Science for humidity resistance. The company is using the volatile organic compound (VOC) monitor to screen soil and indoor air, and to measure influent and effluent concentrations in soil vapour extraction systems.
