CASES & ENCLOSURES  PRODUCTS LOWER LIGHT OUTPUT FOR SMALLER ENCLOSURES

Rittal is to launch two new versions of its LED system lights, thus completing the range. Its series of specially designed lights will include 600 and 400 lumens of light output (luminous flux), to add to the current 1200- and 900-lumen versions. This means that Rittal can now offer lighting solutions to suit all sizes of enclosure, from small housings right up to large systems. The new lights are designed to enable control and switchgear

manufacturers to provide lower light output for smaller enclosures. The 600-lumen version meets the standard requirement for the large TS 8 enclosure, while the 400-lumen lights are suited to wall-mounted enclosures, such as the Rittal AE compact enclosure series. An optical cover made of transparent plastic, in which a Fresnel structure

is integrated, provides optimal illumination. It focuses the light so that the entire enclosure, even at the bottom, can be illuminated so the light reaches all the places where it is needed – inside the enclosure rather than outside. All the lights have been designed for a wide-range voltage input (100 to 240V AC) and can therefore be used in markets all over the world. This cuts storage costs and simplifies the selection of products. The company says the lights can be adapted to any type of installation and fitted either vertically or horizontally in the enclosure section. They can be mounted quickly by clipping them into the TS 8 enclosure section. The lights can also be screwed into the section if required. The use of a universal bracket provides rapid assembly in AE compact enclosures.

CUSTOMISABLE HANDHELD ENCLOSURES

OKW has launched a range of high-gloss, ergonomic, handheld enclosures for OEM electronics, called ‘Style-Case’. The enclosure is suitable for remote controls – notably in medical care but also in industrial applications. Style-Case is assembled using tamper-proof Torx screws. Its

operating panel is recessed to accommodate a membrane keypad or product label. It has an integrated battery compartment for two 1.5V AA cells. It is accessible from the outside and features a screw-closed lid. The enclosures are moulded from traffic white (RAL 9016) ASA for enhanced UV stability or black (RAL 9005) PMMA for infrared permeability. Both plastics are rated UL 94 HB for flammability. OKW offers customised versions of the enclosure. Options include:

custom colours; flame retardant (V-0) materials; EMC shielding; CNC machining; membrane keypads; and display windows.

Spelsberg has added new aluminium enclosures to its TK series. Up until now, the TK series has been available in polystyrene or glass-fibre reinforced polycarbonate. Their modular design, variety of sizes and comprehensive accessories means they can be configured for many different applications. Knowing that plastic is not always the first choice of materials, particularly

if the application requires a degree of impact protection or resistance to certain chemicals, Spelsberg has added the aluminium options to the series. These can be used with all the accessories normally associated with TK enclosures, such as base plates, cable glands, lids, etc. The aluminium and plastic TK enclosures also have identical positioning of the mounting holes. Internally the aluminium enclosures

are dimensionally identical to the plastic originals, but they are larger on the outside due to their greater wall thickness. This means the new units have an upgraded impact rating of IK09 (protected against 10 joules impact) rather than IK08 (five joules).

www.spelsberg.co.uk WALL MOUNTING KIT IMPROVES UNIDESK VERSATILITY

METcase is offering a kit that enables its sloping front Unidesk aluminium enclosures to be wall mounted. The company says the kit improves the versatility of Unidesk in a wide range of applications including industrial control, office systems, point-of- sale terminals, medical devices, security and access control. The kit – available as an accessory – offers a choice of wall mounting options

using either the base or rear of the enclosure. It comprises two extruded aluminium profiles that fit into the underside of the base or rear. Oval wall fixing holes allow for easier adjustment when mounting the cases. Three sizes are available to fit Unidesk M200 (200 x 200 x 102 mm), M300

(300 x 200 x 102 mm) and M400 (400 x 200 x 102 mm) enclosures. Unidesk was originally launched as a range of sloping front desktop instrument

enclosures. It can be specified with or without self adhesive IP 54 sealing gaskets. The enclosure features a flat rear panel for connectors, switches and power inlets. The front panel is recessed to accommodate a membrane keypad. The base has pre-punched PCB fixing points. Stainless steel M3 Torx T10 and MS M3 Pozidriv fixings are supplied, along with four non-slip rubber feet.
