SIG SCHEME HELPS SOUTH WEST METAL FINISHING GROW BY OVER 50%


South West Metal Finishing (SWMF) has announced that its sales increased by 15% in 2016 and it is on track to grow by 57% to £11 million by 2020, thanks in part to support from the Sharing in Growth (SiG) scheme. Exeter-based SWMF which was the first surface treatment company to be part of SiG, values the scheme as a £1.2 million investment in skills and training. The purpose of the SIG scheme is to protect 10,000 jobs within the UK


aerospace market; over 60 companies are involved. SWMF has capability across all surface treatments including; electroplating, electroless plating, anodising, conversion coatings, paint and non-destructive testing. It can work with any metal and has


developed specific expertise in: nickel, zinc, copper, cadmium, silver, chromium, alloy, anodising, phosphate and aluminium conversion coatings. The company holds a wide


range of approvals working with major companies including Airbus, Leonardo, Eaton Aerospace, Honeywell and Rolls Royce. All four SWMF sites are AS9100 and

UK INDUSTRIAL RENTS CONTINUE TO RISE IN PAST 12 MONTHS


UK industrial and logistics rents continued to increase throughout 2016 due to constrained supply and strong levels of demand from online retailers such as Amazon, according to Colliers International’s latest Industrial Rents Map. The map shows that the average prime rents for distribution product increased by 3.3% and 3.9% for multi-lets year on year with Park Royal establishing a new record rent at £17.25 per sq ft. “Despite economic uncertainties


constrained supply and strong levels of take up in the UK industrial property sector is ensuring that it


continues to perform better than any other major property asset class in terms of both rental growth and yield impact,” says Len Rosso at Colliers. Colliers forecasts average industrial


rents to further rise by 2.2% annually until 2020, making industrial property the strongest growing commercial property asset class. “Following an uptake in speculative


developments in 2016 we are unlikely to see a large amount of potential space entering the industrial market in the short term,” says senior research analyst Bo Glowacz. “This will further restrict supply
