ADVERTORIAL TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

Easy machining of sturdy enclosures R

obust ARCA IEC cabinets from Fibox provide comprehensive protection for installed components and allow for very easy and inexpensive machining. Up to IK10 impact resistance is ensured by the enclosure design with reinforced corners and doors and by the special glass-fiber-reinforced polycarbonate material. By reducing the fiber ratio to 10%, Fibox has eliminated the

TÜV SÜD Launches mCom+ Machinery Risk System

he mCom+ software is available worldwide, in two formats; a bespoke server-based version for larger multi-site organisations, and a cloud-based browser version that can provide a cost-effective solution to managing risk assessments. Covering up to date support for both CE marking and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) obligations, mCom+ guides users through the compliance process. A simple checklist system ensures that no vital steps are missed, with a final report generating a prioritised action list for any areas of non-compliance. The mCom+ package includes software that simplifies the risk assessment process, backed-up with support from TÜV SÜD’s engineers, who will train machinery owners in both software use and legislative requirements. At the end of each year, a mentoring visit from TÜV SÜD will ensure that the software is still being used effectively to streamline the ongoing risk assessment process.

disadvantages occurring with other such materials. The polycarbonate enclosures can be easily customized with conventional tools, with negligible wear. Chips and debris material do not need to be suctioned off while working. In other enclosure materials, threaded holes can lose their function under strain. By contrast, ARCA IEC enclosures enable long-time durable threads up to M25 and M32, providing permanently strong hold for cable gland fittings.

art Doors Systems has completed the installation of two Speedor ‘Storms’ at a recently opened packing and distribution facility for a major online retailer. The doors were installed to keep a stable working environment within the 310,000 sq ft fulfilment centre on Prologis Park, Boscombe Road, Dunstable. Mark Richardson, Hart’s South East sales manager, says the Speedor ‘Storm’ variant of Hart’s leading high-speed door range is a popular choice where exceptional wind resistance up to Class 5, that is over 90 mph, is required. Mr Richardson says: “Both doors measure 4.3m wide by 5m high. The system has been through rigorous testing without any issues arising. This is achieved through a reliable and clean direct drive system complete with integral safety brake.”

Lenze motion expertise at IntraLogisteX New drive products for materials handling

L

enze is bringing their drive technology and motion expertise to IntraLogisteX for the first time. At Stand 100 at the Ricoh Arena, March 15th – 16th, Lenze will show new drive and automation technology for materials handling. These drives combine exceptional levels of performance with energy- saving high efficiency and an ease of use that saves time. Products suit both simple conveyors and more demanding motions in packaging and storage.

Also available are support services for end- users including drive upgrades and service packages.

At the show will be the UK launch of the m350 Smart Gear, a new mechatronic package for conveyors with loads up to 350kg. This features an integrated motor with variable speed electronics and a compact gearbox with high

efficiency. Output speeds can be freely selected over a 5:1 range and the electronics allow soft start and stop ramps plus a remarkable 400% starting torque to get heavy loads moving. The Smart Gear is easy to select, available for fast deliveries and is economic to purchase and to run.

Other Lenze expertise extends to packaging and storage machinery. Full support for drives and automation is offered from the initial drive concept through to reliable operation in the field. Lenze are leaders in the drive technology for automated storage and retrieval units. Servo geared motors drive the SRU’s with high speed and positional accuracy. Energy efficiency is important here and Lenze drive software is able to accurately simulate the application and optimise motion profiles.

Lenze is structured to support the machine operator. A 24 hour 365 day technical helpline operates internationally. In the UK emergency replacements and field service are provided from a base in Bedford. Customer support plans can minimise downtime with regular inspection and predictive maintenance. Customised product training on-site or at Bedford is offered from pre-prepared modules.

Adds Backlit Monochrome Display to Mass Flow and Pressure Instruments

Alicat

for its core range of mass flow meters, mass flow controllers and pressure controllers.

A

licat Scientific has added backlighting as a standard feature on monochrome LCD displays

The

backlighting illuminates Alicat’s full-information, menu-driven, multi-parameter LCD display screens for easy reading, regardless of lighting conditions. Though reliable and dependable, with low power consumption needs, monochrome LCD screen crystals lack strong contrast, meaning these screens are best read in well-lit situations. With the new illuminated display, users can toggle the backlight on and off at the press of the button for easier reading and programming in darker environments. The new feature now comes standard on most Alicat instruments with monochrome LCD displays. Illuminated Thin-film Transistor multi-colour display and display-free instrument options remain available to suit customer preference.
