TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

Rittal Expertise on Show at Maintec 2017

Rittal will be showcasing some of its leading technology and much of its considerable expertise at Maintec 2017 (21-23 March, at the NEC, Birmingham).

V Martindale simplifies phase rotation measurement

Electric, leaders in voltage detectors and safe isolation, offers more than one solution, with its professional range of testers. Getting the phase sequence wrong can have devastating consequences for plant and machinery with serious implications for machine safety. From motors running backwards through to cooling or lubricating systems underperforming, one wrong connection can lead to a major maintenance headache. Providing enhanced user safety, the unique PSI4000 and PSI4300 non contact phase sequence indicators from Martindale Electric can quickly and accurately identify three phase sequences for motor installations and other systems. Designed for use on both insulated and non insulated conductors, the PSI4000 and PSI4300 from Martindale carry out measurements via inductive crocodile clips, which can be simply clipped on to speed up testing and reduce the risk of coming into contact with live parts.

hen it comes to verifying the phase sequence, or rotation, of three phase circuits, Martindale

isitors to Rittal's Stand M169 will be able to discuss their requirements for innovative enclosure systems and find out more about how the adequate provision of the maintenance and correct specification of system can result in substantial reduction in down time, energy use and equipment failure.

Of particular note will be the presence of the multi-award winning Blue e+ climate control system which was launched in 2015 to great acclaim thanks to its outstanding energy savings and flexibility.

System Surveys, Servicing and Maintenance Anyone keen to improve the long-term health of their systems can talk to Rittal's expert team on the stand. These discussions might range from possible remedial action if equipment is overheating, tripping or failing, to optimum service programmes for maintaining systems' viability throughout its working life.

For example, running manufacturing automation systems consistently at high temperatures will have a major negative impact on the system's performance, reduce its service life and raise potential safety issues. These may lead to a loss of production, costly equipment repalcement/repair and Health & Saftey issues. All of these factors are preventable with the correct action.

A Rittal RiAssure3 survey will identify the likely risk of a system overheating which could lead to equipment tripping or failing. It will then provide recommendations around remedial action - for example, changes to the system's service and maintenance regime to help improve its efficacy or the need to invest in different climate control technology.

S Jones Containers on a roll as they tackle Heathrow ‘bake off’ challenge

“Steam from the Babcock boiler is required for the baking process in the proofer to raise the bread and in the oven to control the yeast and create shine on the crust.

“The other container enclosure is for the oil heaters which heat the ovens.”

S Jones Containers supplied two 40’ high cube units joined together to create a double-width clear-span enclosure, and one 20’ unit for the bespoke bakery boiler housings.

Challenges in this particular project included the double width aspect which required the joining of two 40’ units with a standard method adopted by S Jones, together with a structural steel support for a water tank over the top of the units and safe access on the roof.

David Taylor said the containerised solution allowed their engineers to be more efficient in the maintenance of the equipment.

“From the moment we approached them, S Jones were superb from the inquiry through design to the final product delivered to site.

eathrow Bakery has accelerated its expansion programme by investing in bespoke containerised boiler housings supplied by S Jones Containers, specialists in containerised solutions.

Adams Bakery, trading as Heathrow Bakery, supplies baked goods for the airline and prepared meal industry, producing 2million rolls per week.

The business has made a substantial investment in its new BRC accredited 28,000 sq ft factory in Iver, Buckinghamshire and in new plant and equipment.

When they needed a bespoke boiler housing in a hurry to cope with expansion, they turned to S Jones Containers for the answer.

S Jones Containers has supplied three modified containers as custom-made enclosures for a Babcock steam boiler and Heuft oil boilers.

Heathrow Bakery general manager David Taylor explained: “We were searching for someone who could provide a cost-effective bespoke enclosure in a very short time. We couldn’t put the boilers inside our current buildings and so custom-made enclosures were the answer to our problem.
