RESUME REFERRALS
Employers frequently request resumes instead of, or in addition to, posting a Co-op position.
Any Co-op team member could refer your resume to an employer, even if you haven’t applied for the job.
Regularly check your email and voicemail for interview invitations.
EMPLOYMENT FAIRS
Kettering hosts three Co-op Employment Fairs each year in the Spring (March), Summer (August), and Fall (October).
The employment fairs are an excellent opportunity for students to meet and interview with employers. The Spring Employment Fair will be on Monday, March 20, 2023. This is the first fair for our incoming students. It is highly recommended for students to attend.
KETTERING CONNECT CO-OP POSTINGS
Employers often provide job descriptions to post on Kettering Connect.
You are able to view and apply for Co-op postings from a wide variety of potential Co-op employers.
NETWORKING
You may have an opportunity to develop a new Co-op opportunity through your personal network. Talk with your parents, other family members, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches – they may suggest possible employers.
Contact your local Chamber of Commerce for a list of local employers.
Provide any contacts/names to your Co-op manager for follow up.
KEYS TO SUCCESS
Take initiative, be flexible, and maintain a positive attitude.
Engage in good communication – follow up with all employer contacts and stay in contact with your Co-op manager.
Invest time in the Co-op employment search and reap the rewards.
It is important for students to have a valid driver’s license. Some of our Co-op companies are set in markets with public transportation, however, most require a driver’s license. Students with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation have more options.
