Show Poise Through Adversity Technical difficulties happen. If you have to ask an interviewer to repeat a question or if the company has to reschedule the call, be professional and polite. Your demeanor in these situations will show the company how you might act as an employee.

Continue Your Pursuit After the interview, send a follow-up email to thank your interviewer. Reiterate your interest by letting them know you look forward to hearing from them with a decision about your candidacy.

TIPS FOR YOUR IN-PERSON INTERVIEW

Appearance Suggestions First impressions are lasting impressions – make yours a great one! Dress professionally with a suit and close-toed shoes. Hair should be styled in a well-kept fashion. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum – no body piercing should be visible. Hair should be neat and professional.

Things to Bring

Bring several copies of your resume and a list of references as well as a notebook and pen. Be prepared with three to five questions to ask the interviewers. If you bring your phone, keep it turned off and out of the way during your interview.

Arriving at the Employer Location Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early. Introduce yourself to the receptionist and inform them that you are there to meet your company contact for an interview. Be professional and courteous with everyone upon arrival and during your visit.

Use Good Communication Skills

A firm handshake, excellent eye contact and positive body language are all key to a good interview. Lean forward and smile, do not slouch and/or fidget during the interview and maintain eye contact with your interviewers at all times. Be confident in your tone and speak clearly. Don’t mumble or talk too fast. Always use proper English without slang. Above all, be energetic and full of enthusiasm.
