News, Sales and Developments


Affinity Living Group, based in Hickory, North Carolina, recently opened North- lake House, a new memory care commu- nity in Charlotte. The community features Affinity’s newly redesigned and branded NorthStar Memory Care program, which includes wayfinding and reminiscence ar- chitectural design, self-guided engagement stations, therapeutic dining environments, and NorthStar staff certification training.


Commonwealth Assisted Living, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, announced a new name, Commonwealth Senior Living. According to the company, the new brand better communicates the company's reach across all levels of care. Commonwealth is also investing $900,000 in its Farnham, Virginia community, which will include a new wing featuring six memory care suites, new activities areas, and a dedi- cated dining room for Sweet MemoriesTM residents. The company also announced the completion of its acquisition of Dan- ville, Virginia-based Stratford House and will invest $3.5 million to fully update the community. Commonwealth Senior Liv- ing has grown to operate 23 communities with over 1,500 residents and employing just over 1,500 associates.


Enlivant, in partnership with TPG Real Es- tate, has announced the addition of 48 com- munities to its portfolio due to a series of ac- quisitions. The expansion represents 3,084 independent living, assisted living, and mem- ory care residences across 14 states. With these acquisitions, Chicago, Illinois-based Enlivant will now operate approximately 230 senior living communities in 27 states.


Integral Senior Living (ISL), headquartered in Carlsbad, California, has announced several business developments, adding to their port- folio of managed communities. ISL-operat- ed Heritage Hill of Oceanside, a new memory care community in Oceanside, California, re- cently opened their sales office. Scheduled to open in early 2017, the community will offer


Merrill Gardens celebrated the grand opening of Merrill Gardens at Ballard, located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The new community features 103 residenc- es and offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Merrill Gardens is also headquartered in Seattle.


64 memory care residences. ISL’s Welbrook South Bay, located in Torrance, California, opened a new memory care building. The new building features a sensor system called “The Vigil Dementia System,” designed to specifically aid in the care of residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. In Denton, Texas, The Village Assisted Living and Memory Care community hosted a grand opening event in October. The ISL-managed community offers 75 assisted living residenc- es and 32 memory care residences. All Season Naples, co-managed by ISL, is currently un- der development in Naples, Florida and will offer independent living, assisted living, and memory care.


Richmond, Virginia-based HHHunt has pur- chased an assisted living property in Henrico County, Virginia through federal bankruptcy court for $11.5 million. The company plans


to complete construction of the stalled proj- ect and open as Spring Arbor Cottages of Richmond.


Hickory, North Carolina-based Meridian Senior Living has partnered with NexCore Group to develop Walnut Crossing, a new assisted living and memory care community in Marysville, Ohio. Completion of the com- munity is expected in October 2017.


Senior Lifestyle, based in Chicago, Illinois, has announced its newest planned com- munity, The Sheridan at Overland Park, in Overland Park, Kansas. The community will be part of a mixed-use development in that includes plans for additional residences, retail shops, restaurants, and office spaces. Planned for completion in early 2017, the community will offer assisted living and memory care residences.
