The Pescheria, or fish market,
also opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 1:00 p.m.Here you will find slabs of sushi-grade tuna, swordfish, sardines, anchovies, and many other local fish, crustaceans and mollusks, caught daily in nearby waters. The best time to visit the Rialto is
in the early morning, when you can watch the locals and restaurant chefs make their daily purchases. There’s also a lot of other shops in the area too, selling wine, cheese and other local goods. Be sure to bring your camera!
Locally caught fish are tagged “nostrano.”
Many of the fish stalls sell baby octopus, squid, live snails and soft-shell crabs, as well as local fish like flounder and sea bream.
