or the first time ever, ARA’s Annual Awards Dinner was transformed into a themed costume affair. Attendees were transported back in time to the roaring 20’s and familiar faces were transformed into those of gangsters and flap- pers. There was a plethora of boas, stripes, and feathers on hand as the festivities got underway.
After a quick reception to warm everyone up with a mini-photo booth to capture the costumed-moment, dinner was served and the annual awards were dished out as well. ARA’s CEO, Michael Wilson, praised the Arizona members who hosted ARA’s Annual Convention in 2013 for their contribution to making it the most financially successful convention to-date. He also said their work paved the way for another successful convention in Nashville in 2014. He commented on a few programs that ARA has been working on such as the Certified Auto Recycler (CAR) and ARADirect. “We’ve also revised our CAR program this past year and want to encourage everyone who is not in the program to get in,” said Wilson. “You can use Canada as a benchmark; they have 100% participation. “I’ll take the leadership you’ve shown me over the last year and cherish it for years to come.”MacDonald, reflected on his experience as president and com- mented on the progress made during his term. “My dear friends – what a year it has been,” said MacDonald. “It has indeed been a privilege to share experiences and work with you – a diverse member- ship of progressive and talented industry leaders.
