Church News
Faith Evangelical Bible Church Henderson, Nebraska Michael Fink, Pastor A recurring theme in recent months
has been an emphasis on prayer. It began with our “Breakthrough” conference with Jeff Anderson as he challenged us in the area of prayer. Tis was followed up with a showing of “War Room” March 20. A Men’s Prayer Breakfast was held on April 9 with guest speaker Rick Bartek. We are also promoting the book A Praying Life, Connecting with God in a Distracting World by Paul E. Miller. With prayer as the power source for the believer as well as the church, we want to be a church that doesn’t just talk about prayer, but becomes involved in the practice of praying contin- ually about all things. Several of us attended the Franklin
Graham prayer rally in Lincoln in May. Alice Decker, Correspondent
Grunthal EMB Church Grunthal, Manitoba As we do not have a pastor, our elders
led the baptismal service on May 1, as five believers proclaimed their faith and expressed their desire to follow and serve God. Tese also joined the membership of Grunthal EMB Church along with two others who transferred their memberships to here. Tey also shared their testimonies and expressed their desire to serve God. Fisher Bay Bible Camp, the camp our
church sponsors, had a fund-raising banquet on May 13 at Cornerstone Bible Church in Steinbach. Many people attended and showed their support for this very worth- while ministry to the First Nations children of our Manitoba Interlake region. Trough the funds raised, the camp will build a much needed garden/storage shed. A workday in June erected this building as well as cleaning up and repaired the camp facilities for the summer. Pray that God will be glorified through the camp’s ministry and that many children will come to love the Lord!
We are pleased and excited to an-
nounce that Jared Fast and his wife Colleen, from our sister church, Stuart- burn Gospel Chapel, have accepted the call to pastor our church. Jared will likely begin his duties at our church sometime in mid-September or early October. Please pray for them as there are many things for them to do before then, including selling their home! Vita Bible Church Vita, Manitoba Jonathan Coutts, Pastor In April Living Proof, a drama team
from Nipawin Bible College, challenged our youth to respond to the call of Christ on their lives. In May folks from our church led a worship service at Winnipeg’s Union Gospel Mission. Tis gave us a taste of ministry in a context that is very different from our own. Also in May we concluded our study of Ephesians by look- ing at our spiritual struggle and our need to don God’s armor and prayer in order to stand firm against evil. Families for Faith, an area church and
community fundraiser we hosted in June, will help to send needy children from Winnipeg’s North End to Faith Academy
via Union Gospel Mission’s sponsorship program. Later in June we joined Stuart- burn Gospel Chapel for a joint worship service followed by a picnic and games. We are blessed to walk this road with fellow Christian congregations!
Grace Evangelical Bible Church Abbotsford, British Columbia Ryan Peixoto, Pastor Grace held another successful chil-
dren’s Pro-D Camp in April. Te theme “Te Adventures of Idaho Evans and His Search for the Treasure of Zalesen” sparked interest among community families. Chil- dren were introduced to the spiritual trea- sure of finding Jesus. At the end of the day, 11 kids did find the treasure and prayed the sinner’s prayer. With the interest in our children’s day camps, we are faced with the challenge of keeping both children and families connected to Grace Church. In May at our semi-annual general
meeting, Pastor Ryan shared the new vi- sion the leadership team has developed for Grace Church: “Connect … Grow … Serve … Share.” Part of that vision involves using small groups to connect new individuals to our congregation. And then, as they are involved in a small group, they will grow spiritually and desire to serve and share their faith and talents with others within the congregation and community. Tese
