THE World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) restated the importance of women’s engagement in the travel industry. The key role of women in travel was reinforced at the Women Deliver Global Conference hosted in Kigali, Rwanda recently. According to WTTC, women constitute approximately 54% of the tourism workforce but faces disparities like lower pay and job security.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said: “It is proven that companies that have 50% women in their leadership make more money.”

“This makes even more

sense as women make the buying decisions on where to go on holiday.” “Putting women centre stage in travel will ensure a better future for the sector and the global economy.”
