Airline increases winter seats by 25 per cent

Jet2.com has announced its biggest ever winter programme from Belfast International Airport with more than 50,000 seats available in 2016/17 - a huge increase of 25 per cent year on year. The desire of Northern Ireland holidaymakers to soak up some sunshine during the long winter means that the leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist has increased its winter 2016/17 capacity by a massive 10,000 seats between October 30, 2016 and March 25, 2017, including more seats to winter beach break destinations such as the Canary Islands and Alicante.
“This is by far our biggest winter programme to date for Northern Ireland holidaymakers,” said Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer,
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.
“The number of people in Northern Ireland wanting to jet off for some much-needed winter
sunshine means we are seeing spectacular growth, and we have added thousands of winter sun seats to popular holiday hotspots such as Alicante and the Canary Islands.”
This continued growth follows the recent launch of the company’s biggest ever flights and holidays programme for summer 2017, which saw the introduction of a brand new route to Costa Brava (Girona) as part of an overall summer capacity increase of 10 per cent to more than 280,000 seats.

deposit. Scheduled air route from Dublin to Cyprus
CYPRUS-based airline Cobalt has launched a new twice-weekly direct scheduled service from Dublin Airport to Larnaca. The new route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays from July 9 until September 3. “We’re delighted that Dublin-Larnaca is one of Cobalt’s first routes and we look forward to working closely with them to help promote this new service,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison. "Cyprus has traditionally been a popular destination for Irish holidaymakers and this new scheduled service will make it much easier for Irish consumers thinking about a summer break in Cyprus.”
Cobalt’s Chief Executive Andrew Pyne said
he was delighted to re-establish an air-link between the two islands of Cyprus and Ireland.
“Cyprus historically hosted up to 70,000 Irish tourists annually, but with the lack of a direct air link these numbers dwindled to near zero. Cyprus has a lot to offer and similar to Ireland is keen to develop alternative touristic areas. Offering more than just fantastic weather and superb beaches, Cyprus is developing year-round activities, from skiing to wine tasting and from bird watching to swimming with the turtles; it has plenty to offer all age groups.”
Fares from Dublin to Larnaca will start at €99 return on the airline’s website.
